To the people saying the money dance is trashy - it helped me and my ex wife greatly.

She still lives in the trailer that we paid the first month’s rent from our dance.

Granted, but it's actually less of a Cajun tradition than it is a poor people tradition.

I’ve been to some fairly upscale wedding receptions that had money dances. Like others have said, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a reception that didn’t have a money dance.

That just didn’t sit right with me. On top of the awkwardness I couldn’t help but think there’s probably some guy out there jerking it to this girl on her wedding day.

Have I told you this week that you're one of my favorite posters?

Were the bride’s parents self made or did they come from money?

I try to zoom out of any wedding I attend as fast as possible.

Seriously, a zoom wedding is crossing the line.

How many coonasses do you know, whose family may have even been well off for several generations, who would ever say or tell anyone they “came from money”?

People have no shame these days. I’m embarrassed just reading that!
My new favorite is the “no gifts, just donate cash to our honeymoon fund” people.

money dance?

The frick is that?

It's origins are family members giving a little bit of money to the bride to help them along. The return, they dance for a song and laugh.

The last 10 weddings I've gone to, its been 50% that and 50% sealed envelope gifts to the bride.

As a youngster, I'd give a twenty and usually do something obscene.

These days I give a little more than I should and have a dance with the bride.

I like zoom weddings because I can just wear a suit top with gym shorts underneath or if the chicks hot my sweat pants with the pockets cut out like I used to wear to the strip club

Self made, and I see your point. I don’t know any “come from money” people.

My wife refused the money dance because its trashy and she hates attention. She also has zero social media and actively despises it while being a staunch republican. She even got in trouble in college for being openly anti obama.

Unfortunately she watches trash TLC reality shows, even though she will sit around talking mad shite, she will still watch it. I guess nobody's perfect.

money dance

I've never heard of, seen, or participated in such.

So after a quick Google this seems like some sort of Italian tradition (maybe Catholic since you LA baws know so much about it). Looks extremely trashy.
