Has coronavirus killed the money dance?

My wife and I were invited to a zoom wedding last night. It was a younger couple in their mid 20s. During the reception the bride was dancing alone and had a Venmo code pinned to her dress.
That just didn’t sit right with me. On top of the awkwardness I couldn’t help but think there’s probably some guy out there jerking it to this girl on her wedding day.
Will we ever get to participate in a proper money dance again?

Yes it is. However, if you grew up in South Louisiana with a working class family, it's as much a part of wedding tradition as bride and groom's cake

My godfather, who is as working class Cajun as they come, insisted that we do one at our wedding. We got married in Wisconsin. The in-laws were mortified!

Granted, but it's actually less of a Cajun tradition than it is a poor people tradition. Though, I appreciate that it might seem that way considering that Cajuns were overwhelmingly poor.
