Has anyone here ever called someone out on stolen valor?

I have not but have come close several times while at the air port. I have not ever been in the military but consider myself somewhat of an amateur military history enthusiast and have seen some guys walking around in fatigues at an airport that I believe were just doing it for better seating. Has anyone actually had some success doing this?

You think someone would wear fatigues in the airport just so they could board a plane sooner? Seems like high risk, very low reward.

Former LSU Defensive Coordinator claimed to be a Chief.
Turns out it was a typo, he was a Chef.

Those don’t count any body can lose a leg to diabetes, go to an arms surplus store and buy a shitty camo jacket. If they want to beg for change in the side of the road so be it

I worked with a guy who lost his arm in an accident around 2006. One of the hardest things for him was people always thinking he lost it in Iraq and wanting to talk about it.

A buddy of mine wore a navy fighter pilot jumpsuit for Halloween about six years ago. We still give him shite for “stealing valor”

I haven't but I worked with a guy that was stealing Valor. He was in the Army and told me he was SF, owned his own martial arts company. He pissed someone off that knew him and next thing you know it was all over the office. He didn't stay long with us. I think they fired him or he quit. He is on the website. I only met him twice so I don't remember his name but if I saw his picture I could point it out.

I haven’t but was in a group and a friend of mine, 6’2” 235lb Australian Calvary Officer who’s deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan multiple time was in a convo with a guy making all kinds of claims that he just got back from “an operation in Iraq” The Cav guy asked him some locations and this poor bastard couldnt work out the details. The Cav guy grabbed him by the shoulder and in a stern Aussie voice said “Mate, your going down a road you don’t want to travel down” The guy apologized and bought a round of drinks for us and promptly left the bar.

Why would somebody want to pretend to be in the military?
I could see pretending to be a big shot businessman or a spy or something, but a grunt in baggy fatigues?
