I tend to note that the former military people I know personally most up in arms about this are the ones most likely to troll on social media for "Thank you for your Service" type comments at every opportunity.
The ones I know are or were in some sort SF unit and get pissed when they see the claim of being in same group. So I get it. but some of these people make it their lifes mission to find these people

I'm getting my 10% discount at Lowe's
Frick Lowe's... they aren't trashy enough for my business... Home Depot for this guy.
But the point is, are you going to pull your cell phone out and record someone for saying they are a vet for getting a 10% discount?

People who are triggered by this ‘Stolen Valor’ stuff are actually more pathetic than the losers wearing the fake military clothes.

My company is so awesome, the firewall has blocked youtube

This was all written from the vet’s perspective and he still came off like the giant douche bag in the situation. It was an interesting read in the sense that I kept saying “holy shite, you’re an a-hole”, while reading it.
LINK to blog if anyone is interested
One of the douchiest things I’ve ever read.

Absolutely. It’s amazing that he wasn’t completely ashamed of it all and actually somewhat proud enough to post it online for everyone he knows to see.

Good lord... that entire story is cringeworthy. That guy is a huge tool.

I like the part when the guy was bragging about the looks that his wife could give him, when he was acting like such a horse's arse.

A buddy of mine wore a navy fighter pilot jumpsuit for Halloween about six years ago. We still give him shite for “stealing valor”
Sorry your buddy was trying hard to get laid.

The thing I hate is reading about people who attack an actual veteran and claim they have stolen valor.

Jack Hughes, a Marine veteran who served in the Vietnam War and earned two Purple Hearts for his service, was assaulted by other Marines at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport last week. Hughes was wearing a jacket displaying his medals and ribbons in the airport because he was on his way to a Veterans Day event at his granddaughter’s school in St. Louis. Prepped to teach others about the sacrifice and service of military veterans,
quote:
All of a sudden (a man) jumps up and he’s got a camera in my face screaming, ‘Your medals are crooked. You’re a fake. You’re not a Marine,’” Hughes said. “He kept screaming at me, telling me I was nothing, that everything I had was fake. I was a fake and phony.” Hughes explained how he earned his Purple Hearts and showed the young men his VA healthcare card. Despite his efforts to prove himself, the situation escalated when one Marine took a swipe at his medals and ripped off his jacket buttons.

So about the 17th largest militia in Idaho?

I saw a kid wearing a 610 stompers shirt and I called him out and posted the video to the official 610 stompers Facebook page. Until you know the sacrifices we’ve made to proudly stomp and earn that shirt and shorts, you have no right to appropriate it

why does that guy care so much?

Have to have a ID to get that 10% discount at HD. Lowe's, you have to bring in your DD214 Or a ID.

You can sign up for MyLowes and they will verify your veteran status online. Then when you scan your MyLowes card at the register it automatically gives you the discount. No need to show ID or DD214 anymore.
