cmon man.
Have to show a military ID to board early. That’s literally the only benefit.
Tons of passengers will ask the gate agents to give their first class seat to guys/gals traveling in uniform. I've seen it firsthand at least a dozen times.

Hahah, no.
It's a shame so many have. Mine was from the nineties. The culture back then was dead serious about anonymity and they did not like what happened in the 2000's to now to change that.
The one's I've met and known were all damn near invisible other than the fact they were so fit. If you didn't already know, you would never have known it because they weren't going to bring it up.

I cringed reading this Seems almost impossible to fake being a seal anyway. It’s too easy to know you are faking it because every real SEAL has already written a book about everything they did
As a former Jarhead 0320 I legit LOLed. The SEALs are the worst bang for the buck in the DoD. Would gladly work with the Rangers, SF, Recon (now Raiders) before ever working with SEALs again!

I think you misspelled do what they tell us to.

Why would somebody want to pretend to be in the military?
I could see pretending to be a big shot businessman or a spy or something, but a grunt in baggy fatigues?

I am a vet... nothing is more annoying than the guy who has to literally talk about being in the service 24/7, trying to get discounts anywhere and every where, special license plates and bumper sticker vet. Get over yourself, nobody cares and nobody made you join. If you joined to show off, you joined for the wrong reasons.

The Master Chief at the Seal Museum has a full listing of everyone that ever wore the Trident as well as UDT and all the real Seals can call him or submit your dumb arse on the website
This is the link to have a "SEAL check" run on someone you suspect, read and follow all directions on the site carefully. 99% of the names submitted for a check are not SEALs.

Why don’t people say they were a private, specialist, or corporal?
I guess no one would care.
They all want to be sgt majors or officers.
To that SOB captain they suckered me into going to jump school. You lied it sucked and the women near the base were not hot. They were fat and when they got out of a 1980’s era Ford Escort the car rose up from the lack of tonnage.
He needs to go down as a liar for suckering stupid guys into going to jump school!!!
If I could go back in time I would have been a clerk or quartermaster.

I'm the one that called him out, with some help from a few others.

Honestly, I'm retired military, and I know I'm not the norm...........but, I don't give two shits about stolen valor unless it's being used to gain access to actual benefits reserved for veterans.
If you want to pretend to be Special Forces to get laid and it works, have at it.

My dad was a WWII combat veteran (Okinawa). He never volunteered that information to anyone outside the immediate family.
I (alone) got the full story of his Okinawa service from him on his deathbed in '89.
not
good.

I didn't watch my buddies die face down in the muck just so that you mfers could steal all the valor!

I agree with you. The people crusading around are a bunch of dumbasses. It is society which has created this, not so much the individual.

I tend to note that the former military people I know personally most up in arms about this are the ones most likely to troll on social media for "Thank you for your Service" type comments at every opportunity.
To me. As long as it's not being done to gain specific veteran's benefits, it's about as bothersome as dudes who lie about their HS football exploits to impress people.
