Has Anyone Bought A Warranty And It Worked To Your Advantage?

I will not waste everyone's time with the bullshite reason why I am starting this thread. When it comes to warranties on appliances or electronics I never buy warranties and never had a situation where if I did have a warranty I would be able to use it... But has anyone bought a warranty and actually used it with no problem?

No chris, nobody has ever used a warranty to their advantage

The only warranty that has ever paid off for me was a home warranty that came included when we bought our current house. 4 months after we moved in, the outside AC unit crapped out. They replaced the whole thing for $75. Saved us several grand.
That being said, when it came time to re-up for the warranty I declined. They're usually not a good investment.

So you know of someone who has?

I actually did.
Kinda proud of this.
Bought a bunch of smart lights for my entire house. The bulbs (at the time) were 70 or 80 a pop, and the warranty would have been hundreds for all the lights.
I bought a warranty on a single bulb, and when a light failed. What a lucky break, it was the bulb that came out of that box. A total of three lights have failed, and wouldn’t you know, each time it’s been that same bulb. 15 dollar warranty, saved me 210ish bucks.

When I purchased my current car, it happened on the last day of the year. I drive a lot of miles for work and needed GAP, the finance guy threw in a 5 year, tire key, rim plan for free. The warranty has replaced 5 tires to this point in 2 years and 97k miles. Best warranty ever.

I don't buy extended warranties and if I did, I'd not have had any reason to use it since the timeline or whatever constitutes the end of one has never seen my having problems with any appliance, tool, vehicle, etc. I've bought.
Total waste of money in my eyes.

Replaced the AC for $75? How much did you pay into the warranty before you decided not to re-new?

Only warranty I purchase is extended warranties on outboard motors. It’s paid off every time.
All other optional warranties are a scam.

I bought the warranty on my Samsung fridge from Lowes and had to use it 4 times before it expired. Things aren’t made like they used to be...

STFU. How about you do us a favor and never start a thread again?

Yes. A couple of years ago I bought a nice printer for the home. Just before the extended warranty ran out it started putting putting lines through everything. Called the manufacturer and they sent me a brand new one due to the warranty (and my model no longer being made).

On electronics, no way. Just replace it if it breaks.

The warranty was paid for by the seller when we bought it. It was automatically included. So I paid nothing into it. To service appliances (in this case the outside AC unit), it was a $75 charge regardless of the outcome. They came out, diagnosed that the whole unit needed to be replaced, and showed up 3 days later with a brand new unit which they installed. I was told that the warranty company paid the AC company and all I was on the hook for was my $75 co-pay. Worked out great for me.
