Reuters reporting Citgo shutting down Corpus Christi refinery (capacity 157,000bpd)

I can attest to this, but pretty sure they shut it down yesterday, or at least got Contractors out. I had a truck go in there to load and they were scampering him to get in and out because they werent going to work today.

houston is going to get pummeled with rain but I think even more scary since it will be a cat 3 maybe 4 that storm surge will be compounding the problem.

The situation is still really fluid for us in SELA. It's too far out to say much with certainty. We should just have a plan for hurricane prep, and keep an eye on it.

Texas is the concern right now, with a major hurricane crashing in is very likely in the next two days. The NHC is calling for a major now, and those bastards know what they're doing.

The good mayor had more important issues to deal with rather than making sure the that NOLA wouldn't turn into a bowl of coco puffs again.

Flooding is the most dangerous aspect of this storm. No one gives a shite if it's a little gusty

Well, Cat.3/4 winds are a tad bit more than "gusty"...

RIght. Ask Holly about this.

does that say 15 in of rain in houston???

In the area, yes.

It should be noted that the exact amount and location of these totals is not as important as the potential for these totals.

Somewhere between Austin, Brownsville, and Lake Charles is going to get a shite ton of rain dumped on them in the next 5 days. That is a pretty safe bet at this point.

Latest GFS model is absolutely terrifying:

It takes it onshore near Corpus in 48 hours, takes it as "far" west as Alice, TX in 72 hours, and still has it over Victoria, TX at 150 hours.

There will be astounding rainfall totals.

Waiting for the Euro.

GFS has been moving around a little much for my taste. It's that classic waiting game for both to basically agree now.
