NAM has this thing sitting completely still for almost 3 more days generating rain the whole time. The only positive is that no models show it reintensifying for now, but I won't be surprised by anything at this point. I just can't imagine the widespread catastrophic flooding should this come to pass, my brain literally cannot fathom it.

Just an update. My post about the Conroe dam being opened causing flooding was more or less speculation, but a lot of details from good sources claim this is the truth. Anyone know if a river authority can be found liable for negligence?

I'm sure the dam opening caused flooding, but what choice did they have? The inflow into Lake Conroe was 130k cfs, and at peak release, they were letting 79k cfs out. The damn actually prevented more downstream flooding.

Fellas, I wouldn't wish what I went through today on my worst enemy.
After getting the mandatory evac, I was gone within an hour. And the next 4 hours were the most treacherous I have ever experienced. 4 hours to get out of Houston after at least 25 failed route attempts.
Ultimately was able to get out going 10 East to Beltway North to 249 North, to grand parkway east, navigating at least 5 instances of nerve racking driving through standing water. Ultimately was able to get to 45 North and get out of dodge. 4 fricking hours just to get out of the Houston area. People on the same route as quickly as an hour later would not have been able to pull this route off.
I can't even explain the "rats in a maze" type feeling, with feelings of despair and forcing myself to make optimistic thoughts just to make it through the drive.
Overall, 8 hours in the truck going 45 North to 7 West at Centerville over to 35 south down to Austin.
Very fortunate to get out. Completely mentally and emotionally drained. I can't even allow myself to think about the house I left behind. I hope all Houston folks fare well.

To a zipcode or even county level? Not very. Just a decent approximate for general rainfall possibilities. Better than nothing though.
The HRRR run I posted seems to be verifying so far, which means it was a solid run so far.
