I think he embellished the hell out of it. The NWS thinks it will go from 40 to 45 MPH winds over the gulf. Shep probably made it sound like re-strengthening is a major issue, but it isn't.

Watching this KPRC live feed and they are riding through Ponderosa Forest in a boat. It's basically a river. What look to be expensive homes up to the roof. Some burned to the ground. shite.

There is a ton of misunderstanding about that release. They don't WANT it to affect people, but it can.

Is it possible to even drive out of Houston right now? looks like every major road is closed at some point...have a friend who says he trying to get to Dallas right now from Galleria area.

I have an aunt/uncle who just got out.. ran into some issues at Grand parkway and Katy Freeway but managed to find a way through. Not sure what route they took.

someone posted a google traffic map earlier and it looked like a spiderweb of closed roads in every direction. I dont think theres a way out now unless he has a boat and a ride to pick him up at the edge of the water.

Buddy of mine had to leave his home in Sienna Plantation, which is southwest of Houston. He had to pretty much drive to Columbus -45 west of Houston to be able to access 10 and head to San Antonio.

Probably no where to cross Buffalo Bayou anywhere. Sounds like people N of Buffalo Bayou can find a way to 290 although that was earlier and it could have changed by now.

Homes on buffalo bayou are already flooded, and the additional flow is not expected to flood any additional houses.
You can see the frustration on the officials' faces every time someone asks the question.
