Zoom in on google.maps with the traffic on. If you don't see any color, it is likely flooded. I learned that the hard way in the tax day flood. Kprc regularly is providing some good traffic and closure information.
My wife and I used the drivetexas and Google maps to plan our exit, which we thankfully haven't needed yet.

It wasn't proven, but they stopped trying to help because they are 99% sure it was a hoax. Nothing added up and none of her info was verifiable. They were all (understandably) very upset.

I know we have bigger fish to fry at the moment, but what do you think about the large wave at 20-25W that just rolled off Africa? The Euro has it as a strong hurricane just north of Hispaniola in 10 days and has been consistently developing it for several consecutive runs.
The GFS also develops it but has it going fishing.
Looks like it is in a good position to develop from a moisture standpoint.

Because this is above and beyond what any normal government would reasonably prepare for. It's like Baton Rouge getting 30" of rain in 24 hours last year. No city can handle that. Washington DC, New York, Miami, Atlanta, Phoenix...they'd all flood under those conditions.
They can learn from the disaster and try to improve things, but there is no way to prevent flooding when that kind of thing happens.
