Taking the kids to some cubs/white sox games and spending 4-5 nights in Chicago. Any recommendations for a hotel that is kid friendly (cool pool?) and is in a good location with easy access to these areas? The only other thing I know we will do is the Field Museum. I don't have much experience in the city so the amount of options was overwhelming, hoping someone with more expertise can help me out! Bonus points for other fun activities in the city for kids aged 5-11.

What is the preferred Paperwhite to go with? Looking for one but there is a lot to weed through. Looks like after eliminating all the refurb/older models, there's an 8GB, 16, 32 signature edition with the signature edition having "no lock screen ads." Not sure what that means, I've not used one before but my 10 year old has expressed interest in one.

Any recs for a family karaoke machine?

Posted by josecanseco on 11/11/20 at 10:10 am
Apparently Santa is bringing the family a karaoke machine this year. Tons of them online, was hoping to narrow it down. Anyone have any experience with them? Ideally would have two microphones and a display for lyrics. Thanks!
Yes, would like color. And that definitely makes the lasers expensive. Thanks for all the recs!
Everything he said. Also, everything about 12.7.97 but especially the ac dc bag->pyscho killer ->Jesus left Chicago opener.

For official releases, Vegas ‘96, 11.17.97 (awesome 5 song first set), Amsterdam box all great.
I need a printer for my house to use with a MacBook. I assume all or most have wireless capabilities now? Would like scanning capabilities as well. It won’t be any sort of heavy use, mainly school forms, labels, etc. Any and all recs are welcome?
Marco - any experience or thoughts on ATX record consoles?

Hard drive to watch movies on TV?

Posted by josecanseco on 7/9/20 at 10:06 pm
Probably a dumb, or at least a noob, question:

I still buy blu ray/dvds for my kids movies, and usually they come up with a digital copy. I download it and it goes to my iTunes and kids can watch on computer. I'd like to have the option to put them all on a hard drive that I can plug into a TV and watch from there (without having to deal with streaming/internet availability). is there something out there that can hold 20 or so movies that I can just leave attached to TV so they can watch from there?
Has anyone here used or know much about ATX Record Players? Apparently they restore vintage cabinets and it seems they also upgrade the sound components as well. Then you sign up to be notified when they have some for sale (there's no on demand ordering, no prices listed, and even the email announcing something for sale doesn't have a price). I read some comments on facebook and it seems like the norm is a few thousand.

I really like the way they look and also the idea of not having to piece together a set up myself. Would love to hear any feedback!

Anywhere to find this around Tyler Texas? Will be there this weekend.
Sounds like I've got a lot of homework to do on both the hardware and the media side. Thanks for all the info guys, I'm sure I'll be back with more questions.
I don't really have a set amount I'm trying to keep it under, more like I just don't want to overspend if unnecessary if that makes sense. The set I posted would be around $325 on amazon. I'd spend $500, but am I going to notice a difference in quality at that point or am I just better off buying the one at $325?

There is a restored "1958-63 RCA VICTOR STEREO ORTHOPHONIC" on eBay for like $1600 bucks that looks pretty badass, but at least at this point would only be buying for said looks. And I assume there is a lot of potential for that go to south/become a money pit.

The other thing is, I'm in a house right now where the space I can allot for the setup is not huge, and plan on moving in 1-2 years and having more room for a cabinet type deal. So, not completely opposed to the idea of starting small and upgrading then.
Marco (or anyone) -

I'm looking at getting first turntable set up and have googled good ones for beginners without breaking the bank. What are your thoughts on this AT-LP60 / Audioengine A2+ setup (LINK I've also seen the LP120, but I don't know if that upgrade matters for someone brand new to vinyl and I like the automatic arm return that the 60 apparently has. Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, looking at getting a few albums to grow the collection, but the reviews on amazon are very hit or miss regarding certain remasters or pressings. Any specific remasters of the following that I should look at (or avoid) while starting:

Eat a Peach
American Beauty
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust
LZ 4
Graceland
Music from Big Pink

I've got several Beatles and Dylan records that were my dad's originals, so depending on condition could likely be replacing some of those as well.
Thanks for update. So is that the savoies instant roux mix that comes in a canister? I have some of that but never used. Did you use just like you would flour? Or if different would you mind sharing your steps? Have Brent thing different GF flours for a while and still looking for better options. Thanks!
