bullshite. Harvard was founded in 1636 to train ministers. Wait though, don't let facts get in the way of this ridiculous crap.

Wow. I reviewed that website you linked and it's a political mouthpiece.

Why don't people do just a bit of digging before they link obvious bullshite sites?

The 1st line of the article says Harvard is set to host this, but as you keep reading, it doesn't really sound like this is being done by Harvard, it sounds like more of an independent/informal thing.

Which is it?

Harvard is hosting it as it is on Harvard's campus and is helping promote it. Other than that, the group raised the money and organized it themselves.

They should do this at state universities too so white people can hear their child's name as they are called.

"Harvard’s institutional foundation is in direct conflict with the needs of black students,” Ms. Woods said."

it was founded 400 years ago, i'm sure it's institutional foundation is in sync with the shite that happened 400 years ago.

"There is a legacy of slavery, epistemic racism and colonization at Harvard, which was an institution founded to train rising imperialist leaders. This is a history that we are reclaiming"

what?! by hosting a separate graduation? this makes no sense to me at all.

what? the fact that college sanctioned groups can hold these events?

the matter of having exclusive groups based on race is an entire different thread in which I'll agree with most of y'all

but for this subject, I just don't get the outrage

The fact that this is being deemed socially acceptable for one demographic, or even two if the latino group has been doing it for three years. However, had it been a white group to start this trend, it would be racist.

Are there words to properly express the absolute ignorance encapsulated in this statement.

probably, yes, but like I said, that is a different subject

the crux of the issue is really having race based groups within universities

if a fraternity or the BCM did this, nobody would care, thus the issue of having a separate ceremony for a group isn't the issue, it is that the group is based off race

MLK Jr. and everyone else who fought for desegregation back in those days would surely love a segregated graduation.

He's really probably rolling over in his grave though.

He'd be proud that black people are graduating from Harvard and probably wonder what they're bitching about.
