I’m sure in hindsight the lion’s share of us spend money in frivolous ways where if we could look back at how much we’ve spent, we’d take the cash over whatever we spent it on.
But it’s hard to think like that in the moment when it’s 20 here and 50 here and 100 here.
Going out, buying pointless crap, it’s all the same. We live a life of relative abundance and tend to take what we have for granted because really lean times aren’t somethng most of us face.
I think that’s a hard truth a lot of us should learn, that we really don’t appreciate how good we have it compared to our ancestors and others now.
Even the poor can eat better than those who came before.
But it’s hard to think like that in the moment when it’s 20 here and 50 here and 100 here.

I can be emotionally disconnected from those I love. It's not a conscious thing, just don't actively seek engagement most of the time. I'm better about it now but it significantly affected my relationship with my older children, particularly my son.
And I am an old curmudgeon now. I think of myself as one of these guys:

Hardest truth is just accepting the fact that you’re average. Being younger you have a lot of dreams. You look at the big houses on the lakes, the movie stars, the athletes, the people who have a lot of success and think working hard will eventually get you there.
At some point, you are in your 40s, living in an upper middle class cookie cutter house, working some middle management corporate office job, still have a 10 handicap, etc.
At that point, you look in the mirror and realize you’ll never be what you thought you could and those dreams are no longer attainable for you. After all the sweat, hard work, dedication, sacrifices.....you’re just average and always will be.
Then you start drinking a lot and become an alcoholic leading to the next hard truth.

I overstep my bounds at work and piss off superiors. It wouldn't happen if they did their job, and I didn't have to continually remind them about not doing what they say they will.

Baw you and me both. Trying to be less lazy. However it's hard to explain to people that you are happy when in peace.
I don't require 50 friends to fulfill my life. In fact, I've always kept a very small circle.
Things I have learned about myself (almost 33!):
1) I am a word of affirmation kinda guy.
2) I don't really get excited about people buying me something because I hate the feeling that I have to return the favor.
3) I sometimes become extremely introverted if im having a rough week.
4) At work, I am completely extroverted and command a room. I still have not figured out how or why I can turn the switch 180 like that.
5) Biggest splurge financially is my car, however, I am as frugal as it gets. I literally calculate quarterly budgets with 5% variances.
6) Serial Planner. I feel at most comfortable when I have a Plan B to go along with Plan A.
7) Don't know when to give up. I'm the kind of person that will ride the proverbial Titanic into the Atlantic, just because I don't want to fail.

I will never understand the LBGTQRST folks fascination with anal sex, gerbils, battery powered toys ect….. IMHO a nice tight moist vajayjay is just the best. I guess I'm just an old fashioned kind of guy.
