Those of you who have gone feom a half ton (f150, silverado/sierra 1500, dodge 1500) to half ton (f250, chevy 2500, etc) or full tons, do you have any regrets?

I am flirting with the notion of selling my silverado and picking up a new gmc 2500 or 3500 when they come out later this summer. The price difference between the half tons is not that much, and i have always wanted a diesel.

I just went back to half from 3/4, always had wanted one and enjoyed it but I'm glad I have the half ton now, unless you're using it for work of some kind, it's mainly for the baw effect ----and totally justifiable

Unless you are towing heavy consistently there is no reason to have bigger than a 1/2 ton besides compensating for a small dick.

ie half of laff that has KR F250s lifted with mudders that have never even shifted into 4x4.

Been considering the same thing. The wife and I want to buy a camper. Either 5th wheel toy hauler or nice bumper pull (non toy hauler)

I'm between the Chevy/GMC and the Ford. Not really all that interested in the Dodge. Just personal preference.

Problem with Diesels IMO is they are a $10k'ish option, and personally, I'd use it 1 or 2% of the time for towing, and the rest would be daily driving. Add to that the fuel emissions (which I think can get deleted now) and higher maintenance expense, I can't really justify the diesel. Although the baw factor is appealing.

My F150 can tow just shy of 13,000 lbs. That should be sufficient for 99.999% of any towing a normal person would do.

Unless you haul some heavy loads there is no way to "justify" getting a 3/4, unless you just want one.

But got damn that truck does look good in the driveway of your 250k cookie cutter 1800 sqft house in Youngsville.

And it also looks great at the ballpark taking Braxtyn to his games

When the O&G downturn hit there was 3/4s for sale everywhere. Selling points were "highway miles only, never used to tow", "Never been offraod". Even one that said never put into 4x4.

If you’re not hauling heavy loads by a 3/4..
I’d also look into a Gas vs Diesel..
Operating costs are much cheaper overall on Gas Engines. You can get a F250 XLT 4wd 6.2l for not much more than a fully loaded KR F150.

the only time I ever put mine into 4wd was just to "exercise" it one time in all the time I had the 250, a girl got stuck in a ditch down the road from my house after an ice storm, I stopped and assessed the situation, I probably could have pushed her out of the ditch the car was so small but I had to go all out baw, I told her to wait right there so I could go get a chain, I came back, hooked her up, put my rig into 4wd and pulled her out of the ditch, my wheels probably didn't turn one full revolution, I had her worthless arse bf, or whoever was with her, use my phone to film it so I could send it to a friend

Have owned, and will not be getting a diesel any time soon. Maintenance and reliability make them not worth it for almost everyone that has them.

Gas 3/4 ton for me. I ride my shite hard, so it needs to be HD. The 1/2 tons look retarded with the full-sized bed that I need. I DD it with >1k pounds in the bed. I load it with 3-5k in the bed several times a year, and pull a gooseneck once or twice also.

1/2 tons just don't work for some people, and you know if that's you. My suggestion is to not get a 3/4 ton unless you really need it

I spent enough repairing my diesel engine after it hit 100k to pay cash for a gas half ton before I could dump it, I did have the shitty 6.0, but it was constantly in the shop
