A big tiger weighs 700 pounds. A big grizzly weighs 1400 pounds.

This isn't a contest. A big coastal grizzly is the apex land predator on this planet.

Or perhaps a polar bear.

I saw a YouTube video awhile back where 2 lions were swimming across a body of water and a crocodile made short work of one of them. It might have went diffrent on dry land but in the water it wasn't close

now do the videos of the much smaller kitty cat leopard or jaguar jumping into the waters edge to rip a croc out of the water and kill it with ease.
Jaguar
Leopard

The Grizzly is the Apex land predator in the world, with ease.

Ah yea, that too. I think everything from a Yellowstone grizzly to a polar bear are all Ursus arctos horribilis, which is the coolest scientific name in the animal kingdom.

Eta: ill correct myself. Polar bear is kind of its own thing. All brown bears are ursus Arctos. American grizzly bears are Ursus arctos horribilis.

Still the coolest damn name there is.

always some ignorant posters who think the grizzly is some mythical 15 ft tall beast. a siberian tiger and grizzly are very very close in size. the tiger is a natural hunter and has incredible agility. contrary to common ignorance, a bear is not good nor has any experience fighting or hunting.

I'm inclined to go with the Grizzly, however there are records of Siberian tigers who have made brown bears a staple of their diet, so I wouldn't sleep on the tiger.

Croc would obviously wreck everything in the water, and they're massive enough that they'd be a challenge to take even on land. If they even get a small bite in that could devastate any of the animals in this list.

The African Lion is outclassed in every measure by the Siberian Tiger and the Anaconda likely wouldn't have the size to be a threat.

I think a Siberian Tiger takes a Grizzly.

Grizzly would probably never see the Tiger coming.

Who wins this fight?

Leaving out elephants, hippos, and rhinos as they are in a different category

well luckily the gold miners in the 1800s ran these expierements for us already and the grizzly won like 99% of the time.

the tigers and lions couldnt penetrate the bears thick skin.

cliffs, the grizzly bear is stronger, built like a tank, dangerous claws, can snap a tiger etc... but the hunting instincts of the Tiger gives them the edge.

Depends on the species. The larger ones are well protected by layers of fat.

The average weight of a siberian tiger is around 500lbs. The average weight of a coastal brown bear is 900lbs.

I think for the purpose of these discussions, you have to assume you're doing a cage match and not just an "out in the wild" thing.

So now what?

You don't think the tiger or lion could beat a Grizzly?

I think it would depend on who s able to attack first.

that's fine, but a tiger still has an edge in hunting desperation of killing is what the article is getting at. A tiger has to kill to live.

The the grizzly isn't the biggest brown bear species.
