Parents are going down to New Orleans and staying at the Windsor. next weekend. Would it be safe for them to walk to Luke and back down Gravier? How about to the Saenger for a show?

It has been some time since I have been there and I don’t want something bad happening to them. Thanks in advance.

Safer than Gravy Street, but not as safe as Graviest Street

Luke to the Windsor court is pretty quick. The saengar is a bit of a trek.

Tell ‘em to eat at August instead. Much shorter walk.

No they do not need to walk down Canal street to the Saenger. Get an Uber and be dropped off directly in front.

Walking Canal Street at night is not recommended. They should definitely get an Uber to the Saenger. Also, tell them not to go to Luke, its an average restaurant. August, across the street from their hotel, is a much better dining experience.

Tell them to visit Colette's down Gravier. Your dad will thank me later.

It's fine. It is a well traveled area with plenty of people about. Don't let the OT nannies affect you. Luke is good but do agree August is superior.

Not if they take a boat.

Agree. They won’t survive a to and from walk to the Saenger.

Walking to Luke from the Windsor is pretty safe on a Saturday during the day or early evening. It’s just a few blocks up Poydras. Walking to the Saegner is not. I have felt unsafe walking on Canal post-COVID—even in the day time hours. Lots of vagrants and democrats on the sidewalk.

I wouldn’t recommend the Gravier route to Luke. Poydras has a lot more people on it on the weekends. Gravier between Chop and St. Charles can feel somewhat deserted on the weekends.

This is what we saw outside of the brick walled driveway last time we stayed at the Windsor about 4-5ish years ago. I wouldn't think it is safer/better now.

As others have said, walking to Luke is fine, but I would Uber to the theater. Walking between gravier and canal at night is not the best experience plus that’s a bit of a haul.

There was a time one could safely walk from the Windsor to anywhere in the Quarter and back just about any time of night. The days are long gone. I don't know your parents age but the local predators will have a good idea.

Uber to the Sanger is a great idea, as is August for dining. I wish it were different but times have changed. They will still have a good time, just be cautious. The concierge will help them do that.
