It's a tragedy. Confluence of events could have led to this. Not taking sides.

No matter what the article says, Hayes should've never gotten out of his vehicle with a gun in hand (especially considering the fact that he hit Smith from behind). Both parties are responsible for what happened, but Hayes getting out of his car with a gun in his hand sent the whole thing to another level.

Smith should have never hit him and ran. Then run a red light. all while intoxicated

Yeah thats a death sentence right there...probably only happens in NOLA 2 or 3 times a night.

It is a pretty good read, but I have two major issues with their version of the incident.

1 - who gets swung at 3 times by a former pro defensive end, and calmly says "Please don't do that."

2 - if he was just defending himself, why 8 shots? One shot, maybe even 3 or 4. But 8?

never said it did. I just like how people act surprised that there was some sort of confrontation after the drunk idiot hits his car then flees.

How about this never fricking happens if the thug never shows up with the gun? This was a planned confrontation. I don't see anyone pointing that out.

I'm surprised at the OT's stance on this one.

Who would have thought y'all would be ok with someone getting shot in the side and back that many times over a freaking "fender bender"?

It's actually pretty sad y'all are taking that stance.

What a shitty defense.

I know you're a shite poster, but that, in no way, gives you reason to shoot someone.

I think his point was that the hit and run spurred the actual confrontation.

From there stuff happened that may or may not justify it.

I don't think anyone is buying the "we fought off these dudes that outnumbered us and included an NFL player with ease and politely asked them to stop"

I think some people think that smiths crew hopped out looking to fight and depending on how it went from there... lots was possible. Also that both sides had plenty of chances to avoid that moment.

Are you sure about that ? He's guilty by public opinion but will probably get Manslaughter under La Law.

You're talking about Smith or Hayes?

If that GQ story is accurate, he would not be spending the rest of his life behind bars if I were on the jury. Not at all.

If one finds it necessary to used deadly force then you don't just shoot the threat once hoping to neutralize it. You would fire as many rounds as it takes. In most circumstances this means multiple rounds.

I find it hard to believe that the statements made by Kevin in the article are 100% accurate, but there's not really any debate that the initial narrative that "NOLA thug shoots innocent Will Smith because he was disrespected" has been blown to absolute shite.

The lawyer for the Smith family fricked up with his initial presser.
