And I agree, completely. I don't know how accurate the models I've seen are, but from the charts I have seen it seems like Louisiana is past it's peak. Keeping things closed until June seems a bit much. People need to work, and even if nobody can work for whatever reason, the rate at which they are rolling out CARES is horribly slow.

It’s all the same for my kids regardless. After the Christmas break, they begin working on the NEXT year’s curriculum. For the most part, my kids’ school stays a bit ahead of the curve. Yeah, I’m bragging. I love that damn school.
Bad thing is that, we as parents, feel like they haven’t really done any work since being let out. At the same time, see above...they’re ahead of most kids their age and have already been working on next year.
I do believe that they will start school in late July this year though. So it’ll work itself out.
I’ve tried to help them with work, but come to find out, I’m not a teacher. And after just a couple days of trying, I realize why.

People aren't staying home, they're out everywhere ignoring the stay at home order. When this stuff lingers into june and july, you can blame everyone who couldn't just stay home for 2 freakin weeks.

No. Kids still get held back. But it is becoming more and more rare as education leadership believes that not passing a grade is a contributing factor to high school drop out rates, as opposed to correlated with high school drop out rates.

Should clarify that this only pertains to public schools. Private schools can still give graded assignments and test

Can confirm. My kids private schools are treating the assignments and test seriously.
I will admit they have made it easier for them though during this mess.

I've graded quite a bit of the work that students have submitted.
I'm betting that in the end we will actually only use the grades that help a student.
