They’re “graded” in that the teacher is showing what they got wrong so they can work on fixing it.
It isn’t graded in that if she simply didn’t do it she’s going to fail her class and get held back.

Fwiw the district I work in are offering "grade recovery" for failing students starting this week
All they have to do is login on a site and complete work (they have unlimited chances) which is auto graded
Once they hit the preferred score they will no longer fail, they just have to report it to the teacher who will then adjust the grade and they pass

The difference in attitudes about this thing from region to region are insane. Yall have close to 1000 new cases every day with close to 1k dead and people are saying it's not that serious and people want to open things up.
Up here in Idaho, we have been trending downward with cases and have about 25 deaths and we are cautious about when the right time to open things back up are.
Not really an opinion, just really strange to see the differences.

There are a lot of shitty parents out there who are not giving two shits about whether or not their kids are doing the schoolwork. I doubt very seriously that the school system would hinge a kid's ability to advance to the next grade on whether or not they did it, much less did it right.
For starters, they don't have the capacity to hold back the potential number of kids who would have failed because he/she didn't do the work and pass the quizzes.
I get that it's a matter of what the school does, but I'm talking about public schools. My kids go to private school and they're still in grade school. So, it's really just a "here's what they have to do on Mon, Tues, Wed, etc." The kids do it, turn it in, get the next week. But they are not taking tests or even quizzes. They were when they were in regular school, but not now.

It's not that we want everything opened up. We're just tired of JBE not following the data and being patient with his decisions.
It's clear that we're testing more and more people and new hospitalizations are down...as well as deaths. There's no need to open everything up on Monday...but also not the need to clamor about keeping things closed until June.

They aren't passing everyone outright.
They may be doing this first wave to get as many that can do it now so they can set that up.
But as of right now if you were failing, you are going to fail unless you do these assignments.
