I learned that we always get a big frost before Easter.

all that matters is what is happening in Shreveport man. That single reference frame is superior and privileged over any another in describing climate phenomena. You must have gone to public school

Its not uncommon to get a chill but mid 20's is.

The older you are the more snowstorms and freezes you've seen in March and April and the later you wait to plant.

My grandpappy used to always say to wait until Good Friday/Easter weekend. Always assumed it was some folklore his grandpappy told him but its served me well.

This is the only answer.

If you are in certain areas of the south, you cannot wait that long.

Sure. I saw someone mention Good Friday as a marker for further south.

Just think early March is probably too early for most.

Everybody knows the move is to put 3 houses on the property.

Good Friday/Easter weekend.

Problem with using Easter to time planting is the 35-day window of dates on which Easter can occur. Even year-to-year that date can jump 11 or more days. Less of a gamble are frost stats. Likelihoods and average 1st and last frost dates by zip code can be found at almanac.com/gardening/frostdates .

I always get a good chuckle at seeing the tomato and pepper plants out this time of year at garden centers. I call them "sucker plants".

That’s your fault. Everyone with common sense knows to no plant until Good Friday

I've felt lost ever since they discontinued the Farmer's Almanac.

Thread hijack incoming:

What is your basic strategy in Monopoly?

Are there certain properties you target knowing that they have a high chance of an opposing player landing on the property?

Do you seek out railroads?

I remember playing the NES or SNES version of the game and there was a sandbox mode where you could pre assign properties and distribute extra cash to you and build free stuff based on the rules. You still had to own all the properties in a color group to place houses and hotels. Also the game did do trades and the programming was pretty good to ensure a good deal.

The auction part of the game was pretty neat. Every time I played with family or friends if they didn’t want to buy a property they would just skip purchasing if they couldn’t afford it or the property didn’t fit their strategy, but according to the rules when you land on an unsold property you either buy it or auction it.

The best gardening advice I have ever received is from the old timers, don’t plant before Easter!

You always plant after Easter.. assuming you’re growing an edible garden.

Go to a cow pasture. Pick up the dry cow patties. Best fertilizer you can get for free. I promise your garden will grow nicely.

We are north of pecan country.
Our local advice is to wait until the native black walnut trees put out leaves the size of mice ears. Then transplant your starter plants.
