Maaaan, I can tell you, since this last rain event, these HUGE black mosquitoes with white stripes are trying to carry me off of my lawnmower…

That is the Aedes aegypti mentioned above. What general area of LA are you in? I have never seen one in the lower Amite area.

Obesity
Diseases/cancer
Pollution (dead zone in gulf)

And, I think the further we get away from “nature”, the worse we are as a civilization.

Aedes aegytpi show up in New Orleans and Mobile, but only in the most populous, densely-cloistered sectors.

Aedes albopictus - meanwhile - are fairly ubiquitous.

Both are artificial-container breeding mosquitoes.

It’s not good enough to just dump those containers, also need to wipe interior as well. As eggs are lodged there.

The "mosquito burger" (often referred to as a "kunga cake" or midge patty) is a traditional delicacy made by local communities in East Africa, particularly around the Lake Victoria and Lake Malawi regions. During the rainy season, massive swarms of midge flies and mosquitoes hatch, sometimes containing up to 500,000 insects per patty.
