So earth shattering i don't even remember it happening.

quote:

Simone Biles perform multiple signature gymnastics moves that have never been done before is a testament to her creativity and incredible talent.

Most Gold Medalist do things that have never happened before...that's why they win the Gold! The same could be said about Shawn White or Michael Phelps.

quote:

Despite knowing the importance of representation, only 4% of television sports coverage and less than 1% of sponsorship is dedicated to women’s sports.

The WNBA is so relevant i can't tell you a single city that has a team or a single team name. I don't watch the NBA either, but i know most of the teams and cities. It's a garbage league with garbage game play.

We are also working with ESPN to add a dedicated segment for women’s sports on SportsCenter

Least watch segment on ESPN every day guaranteed.

quote:

The WNBA has been at the forefront of progress, for gender equity, racial justice and sport as a whole

But at the back of the bus in all things actually sports related.

quote:

so that women athletes can get the recognition they deserve.

Seems those that actually do things worthy of recognition actually get it. All others are not worthy of air time.

Maybe QVC will dedicate a men’s segment and BET will dedicate a Hee Haw reruns segment. Why is ESPN insistent on destroying its own brand?

Earning equality one dunk at a time. You go girl!

Does the WNBA have to give away promotional tickets just to get a fraction of the stands full? I can't see a core audience for this beyond lesbians and the parents of the players.

Remember when we used to get excited to hear the 6 beats that meant Sportscenter was on? Now it means the games is over and time for Netflix.

So, the WNBA does not make money. It has turned an average $10 million net loss (revenue – costs) per year, since its inception in 1996. One of the main reasons that the WNBA remains in existence is that it is subsidized by the NBA, which are able to sustain this $10 million loss every year.

So the WNBA has lost about 250 million dollars since it’s existence and has yet to turn a profit for any given year.

The W stands for welfare.

I remember a time when I use to leave MTV or VH1 on all the time to have music going on in the background.

I remember a time when I left CNN or Fox News on all the time in the background so I would know the facts about world events.

I remember a time when I use to leave ESPN on in the background all the time because I enjoyed sports.

If they don’t cover women’s sports 30 minutes of each hour of Sportscenter they are huge hypocrites.

This actually probably wouldn't be a bad idea. I hate segregation in response to faux racism/sexism, but honestly, if they put women's sports on it's own network, there is no competition for what people choose to watch. It still won't be the fault of a failing product, but at least it gives people an easy decision when turning on the TV.
