You can look at the entire world right there in your pocket. Can lay eyes on a picture of any geographical location anywhere in seconds. I always forget about it and then it’ll pop up on my suggested apps and I’ll download it again. Just one of those amazing tech things we take for granted that would blow the minds of past humans.

It's great for scouting public hunting land too.

Why’d you delete it the first time?

Yeah it has an enormous number of practical uses as well. Everything from scouting neighborhoods to researching travel destinations. Or just having a virtual trip to somewhere you’ve always wanted to go. I like showing older people because they just can’t believe it.

I use it frequently to find random ponds around town to go fish. I switch between default mode (great to find water) and satellite (great to see the structure of the pond).

Hunting public land

GeoGuessr is amazing though. I could waste hours playing that shite.

I use it all the time.

I have snuck onto the property in Burbank for years now due to google earth.

A few of the bucks hanging in my shop and thanks to that property and google earth.

There was a big drought in north Texas that ended in early 2015. You can use the date option to look at fishing spots back then that are now 10’-20’ underwater.

I agree it is a wonderful tool. Be aware (and I'm sure comes as no surprise), they capture every destination you enter.

every single time you use a google app whether it’s a search or a map or google earth or whatever your activities are logged and archived. It is what it is at this point

I use google earth every day.
I can look at buildings we are asked to renovate, roofs, raw land, driveways, electrical service, elevations, etc. many times it saves me from going to the building at all

Every time I go somewhere for the first time I use it to go through from the point I haven't been to before to the exact location.

For me at least, it makes a big difference because it gives me a sense of being familiar with where I am. Even with a GPS telling me exactly where to turn, etc, it just makes me feel more comfortable.
