Everyone on this board should damn well know that it's going to be a long arse time before Pot is taken off the controlled substance list. Hell, with everything going on they still haven't moved it down from a schedule 1 narcotic. How can any rational person think that pot is worse than coke and opioids, and just as bad as heroin, MDMA, and ludes. Sessions is a cuck POS.

GOP: We got you some of your tax dollars back. Pothead Millenials: that’s uh cool, but what about muh weed.
While the tax cuts are great for my parents they are adding 1.5 trillion a year to the deficit which my generation is going to have to deal with. I’m a registered Republican who grew up in a VERY proud Republican family and I voted for Gary Johnson in 16, that is very troubling for the party. This is much deeper than weed, younger people want states rights and a small federal government but neither party is willing to give them that. Until older voters and party leaders get their collective heads out of their asses the party will continue to decline. Keep pushing away younger voters though, that’ll get you somewhere.

Holy fricking over exaggeration, Batman.

I’m all for prosecutorial discretion. But the Attorney General completely ignoring a federal law goes way beyond simple prosecutorial discretion.

The fix is not to allow Sessions to ignore federal law. The fix is to CHANGE federal law.

And for the record, I warned people here about this very thing happening when Colorado first passed their pot law.

i'm really having a hard time fathoming how Trump could make this pick.
Why? He's absolutely clueless when it comes to policy, and has zero business being involved with it on any level. We're talking about the same buffoon who tried to take credit for a global lack of airline deaths last year.

but he (Trump) moved to the middle once it became clear he (Sessions) was a redneck goatfricking, backward-arse authoritarian who doesn't mesh with the young (as in, under 80) people who put Trump in office.
Everyone else knew this about Sessions. Why wouldn't Trump have known it?

This was all just an eventuality. Session has been on record making utterly stupefying comments on marijuana. If this comes as a surprise to anyone, you haven't been paying attention.

That's quite an exaggeration. It won't effect current legal markets at all.

Could effect future legalization though. But again, local LEO's have far more power. Harris County essentially decriminalized up to 4oz for possession.

I know some nerdy people who have never partied a day in their life that have seen pot a lot more than this.

I'm probably a borderline alcoholic, but never even come close to smoking pot. A) My old man would have killed me and pulled my tuition payments if I got caught, B) I was always worried about not knowing WTF I would be getting in the weed. Read up on the Ole Miss confidential informant racket. I was always terrified of getting roped into something like that:
How Mississippi Discovered the Drug War's Golden Egg.

Say what you want about Obama but I did enjoy not having the Christian Right making all my laws. Trump and Co trying to hit the reset button back to 1985

Jeff Sessions is such a piece of shite.

We knew this was going to happen. Goddamn these old conservatives, they need to start dying out.

What a terrible Attorney General appointment.

You are a fricking young moron.

Guess what young buck???? All of you ignorant young liberals WILL BECOME old conservatives.

At least, those of you who have success and actually accomplish things in your lives.

Old conservatives will never die -- those with any intelligence will naturally transition as the real world enlightens you.

FFS -- read my post history, see how I have changed from my youth...... and know this..... I was the only white kid in the entire movie theater at Malcolm X. I was an indoctrinated youth before the fricking term even existed. But 20+ years of real world experience, opens your eyes to one simple fact --- frick everyone else. I will take care of myself and my family. You should try doing the same.

If you are never a young liberal --- you have no heart.
If you are never an old conservative --- you have no brain.

You mean like laced with other drugs? That's reefer madness propaganda and never actually happens. It's like the poisoning Halloween candy thing. There was only 1 case of the Halloween candy thing ever happening, and it was a parent deliberately poisoning his own children. A drug dealer isn't going to waste extra money putting other drugs into the weed just to frick with you. That doesn't even start to make real world sense.

meh. it doesn't come as a surprise that Sessions is anti-states rights. the only surprise is that Trump hasn't shut this down from a politicS standpoint--not a poliCY one. but we may see some multiverse quantum chess moves soon.

Schedule I means it has no medicinal value, not necessarily that one is "worse" than the other. That being said, the fact that doctors prescribe Marinol to cancer patients proves that mj has medicinal value.

Well, it does say in the article that...

Sessions is expected to announce that he will rescind that memo and instead leave it to U.S. attorneys in states where the drug is legal to decide to what extent they will enforce federal laws.

This doesn't mean shite anymore! Less than shite.

When "conservative" is so easily associated and in agreement with mass surveillance, asset forfeiture, deficit spending, subsidized healthcare, etc...

It becomes hard to take the label seriously.
