This Great Lakes cat has had it out for sessions ever since he was appointed, primarily because of sessions views on marijuana.

If what YOU posted is the actual truth, Great Lakes is once again engaging in hyperbole to try and smear sessions.

Sessions will announce a new policy that will still support the states deciding a majijuana policy that works for them.

Sessions is a law and order type guy. He won't tell states they can decide their own marijuana policy unless Congress removes marijuana as a controlled substance at the federal level. Once its not illegal per federal law, then Sessions will let individual states decide if and how they want to regulate it.

Because I'd rather not do something illegal. Plus pot dealers are inconsistent, I want to just go to the store and legally buy it

Imagine that. One of the only persons that Trump owed political favors to is the guy who ends up being one of the worst hires in his administration.

I just can't see it. How will Trump attack "Big Gov" in areas such as FCC and EPA but then allow it here? It screams hypocrisy

Even the Republicans I know hated that appointment. He's a dinosaur with archaic views that is pro-Civil Asset Forfeiture and pro-Drug War.

Its insane there are people alive that defend Jeff Sessions

I'm surprised the tobacco lobby hasnt fought to legalize it.

They have the entire infrastructure in place already to make billions. They have the agricultural and industrial and marketing and market share and every thing on their side.

Yeah, this would be the first time ever that Trump was a hypocrite. It doesn’t matter that he says something hypocritical every 3rd sentence.

You rescind it because it’s not a law but rather an EO or a memo. Force the people to start talking about it and pressuring the Legislature to make the proper law regarding it.

But the LEO lobby and prison lobby is too rich and probably would pay out the arse to fight it

I'm a middle of the road independent who probably is more Libertarian than anything, but this isn't true.

The mood in the country at the time was "do anything to fight terrorism" and this had bipartisan support.

They have. And they're about to turn the heat up even more.

That’s uh cool man, but you’re missing the point.

There’s a lot more people affected by the tax reform than there are people worried about getting busted with pot.

There’s also a lot of other factors that can torpedo the GOP in 2018. Legalizing pot isn’t very high on the list.

But don't blame "progressives" for the power of the central gov't.

BOTH parties seek to increase the power of the central gov't when they are in charge and then do everything they can to limit the power once power is ceded back to the opposing side

Republicans passed the PATRIOT Act
Democrats passed Obamacare

It unfortunately cuts both ways

I do blame progressives because they’re the ones who want to grow the size, scope, and power of the federal government. It’s not just democrats, it’s republicans as well. Just as there are progressive democrats, there’s progressive republicans as well. The so-called “neo-cons” like Bush and Cheney are prime examples. That’s why I’m not now nor will I ever be a republican.

I’m a conservative. By that I believe the federal government should stick to what the constitution laid out for it to do and leave everything else to the states. If this country would go back to that system, you’d see things improve drastically. If a state wants pot to be legal. Let that state do it. If a state wants pot illegal, let that state do it. Same with gay marriage, abortion, school choice, gun rights, and all the other hot button issues we have today. Let thf liberals in places California have their socialist paradise and conservatives in places like thf South have their paradise. And the people can vote with their feet on where and how they want to live.

I don't really give a shite about weed/potheads, so no big deal personally. But, this is is stupid given Trump's alt-right/libertarian support.

So many criminals. Having said that, yes please keep smoking.

It'll help pave the way for much larger pay raises in my future due to the lack of employable work force.

People don’t want to hear this but it’s the best post of the thread. I personally don’t want to live in a banana republic where the attorney General of the United States of America chooses which laws to enforce or ignore based on his own personal whims. Pot is illegal by federal law, thus Sessins has to enforce it. Period.

You want to live in a world without prosecutorial discretion? frick. That.
