re: Colorado summer trip...help - PearlyBaker on 3/18/18 at 6:46 pm
That is from the middle of June, I was woken by snow a few days up there. I started all the way here in Florida. I used the Gaia app for my iPad for maps, I think I paid $20 for it but it is awesome. It has pretty much any trail or road on public lands on it and you can save the maps so you can use ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

re: Favorite National Park? - PearlyBaker on 3/18/18 at 12:02 pm
Asking what your favorite Nationals Park is like asking someone which one of their children is their favorite. They are all so unique and impressive that it’s hard to compare. Zion in late October is hard to beat for me though, light crowds and wonderful cool weather make for a great time to visit. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Can A Man Ever Have Enough Knives? - PearlyBaker on 3/18/18 at 11:31 am
I’m the same way, I used to be really into knives when I was in my early teens but they don’t get a whole lot of use anymore. Now I keep a bunch of those super cheap all plastic box cutters in my garage, Jeep, work truck, and pretty much anywhere I might need a knife. ...

re: What is your favorite ski town and why? - PearlyBaker on 3/4/18 at 4:00 pm
Crested Butte, Telluride, Silverton, and Incline Village NV are all favorites of mine. They’re all a little more low key and authentic than Park City and places like that. They’re all good though, any place that you can ski is most likely going to have a real good vibe to it. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Adult trip to DC area - PearlyBaker on 3/4/18 at 2:02 pm
Just to reiterate, Annapolis is beautiful and a tour of the Naval Academy is a must do. Baltimore is pretty meh but if you do go make sure to take a ferry to Fort McHenry. We did that when I was 8 or so and some girl passing by on a boat flashed the whole ferry, that was the first pair of tits I eve...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Should I purchase my Italy rail tickets in advance? - PearlyBaker on 3/3/18 at 9:06 am
I purchased rail tickets online before a trip I took a few years ago. My CC info got stolen and I ended up with a $1500 purchase in Italy a few hours later so I’d just buy them at the stations if I was to do it again. Also, you don’t have to worry about missing your train if you end up wanting spend...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Thoughts on a Florida Roadtrip - PearlyBaker on 3/3/18 at 8:56 am
While I love Florida and I do encourage people to get off the beaten path here and check out some of the old boom towns that time has passed by and our great state parks but late summer is a brutal time in Florida. It’s scorching hot, the precipitation can be unpredictable, and mosquitoes are out in...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Utah/Colorado/New Mexico Cliff Dwellings - PearlyBaker on 3/3/18 at 12:16 am
I spent some time out in Mesa Verde this summer, be careful of what you drop into to explore some old dwellings. You can pretty easily find yourself stuck on a ledge if you get off the main trails to find some hidden dwellings. There’s tons of camping out there if you don’t mind dispersed camping on...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

White fluke or a Houdini Naked Swimmer. I used to fish Jr tournaments in Florida and there was a kid that I occasionally would get paired with that fished nothing but white flukes no matter the conditions or time of year. He usually placed high too, he knew what seemed like 100 different ways to pre...

re: Can anyone recommend a good spot for a solo mental health weekend? - PearlyBaker on 2/24/18 at 1:18 pm
Fly to Phoenix and drive to the Peyote Way Church of God out in Arizona. Do a trip report for the rest of us, let us know how it goes. Serious answer- get up to the smokies or the ozarks for a long weekend....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

[quote]Ouray is probably the town you are thinking of. Southwest CO, in the San Juans. Another beautiful spot. re: States without income tax - how much of an effect does it have on standard of living? - PearlyBaker on 2/21/18 at 9:14 am
Our property taxes in FL aren’t much worse than Louisiana’s, we have no state income tax, 6.5% sales tax in my county, and we don’t have politicians who steal money from the state as the infrastructure around it crumbles. So I’d say that it works pretty well for us. Does FL have some issues? Of cour...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
