I'd have to clear out so much crap I've accumulated in my bag over the last few years to make room for golf balls. or I could just get a new bag

an errant tee shot would cost one of us (well most of us) sooooo many more strokes than it costs a pro. and it was costing some of the pros 2-3 shots today.

Members tees or pro tees?

My cousins played there. It's not a long course from the members tees. It's the greens that eat you alive

Pro tees

A guy who helps me with my swing from time to time might be a member out there. He plays it often, so I believe he is, but he's very humble and private so he hasn't actually come out and said it. Anyways, he likes to play the course set up for the pro's before they play, and he usually breaks 80, but he is a lifelong scratch golfer.

He also says the greens are the toughest part of the course.

6 handicap, I'd shoot about 95. Your score would be so dependent on how well you putt, and being able to make 3 foot putts. Because you aren't going to be able to judge the speed that well to get it any closer.

that's the thing. yeah the greens are fast, I'd be happy with a 3 putt every time. but what's lost in most of these conversations is just how difficult it'd be to get off the tee box

I'm guessing I'd shoot about 90-95 as a 1 handicap and that might be slightly low.

as a 1 I think you'd do a lot better than that. I'm sure you're being humble, but I think when you're actually there, with no crowd and no money on the line you could do better than you think.

He might not even get to play them with fangs. They get harder from Wed to Thursday.

I'm a 8 handicap and I'd be pleased to break 100 from the white tees. 120 from the tees they're playing from.

ETA: This is assuming perfect scoring conditions, not 15-20 mile an hour winds.

spieth was saying that 2-foot putts weren't anywhere near gimmes with the way the wind was gusting and how crusty the greens were.

there were pros out there shooting in the low-80s today.

I got ya. I wasn't aware you were allowed to play from anywhere other than the member tees. Congrats on a great round at Augusta though! I'm incredibly jealous.

I bet I could putt better than Ernie Els on the first hole.

Potentially, but I would be so nervous. It really just depends on how the course is playing. Some of the best golfers in the world didn't break 80 today (and others didn't break 80 yesterday). The course is just so hilly, and if I missed the green I'd put my likelihood of being up and down around 20%.

100

But I do enjoy fast/punishing greens.

I would hit my three wood all day.

pro's play out there pretty often, so they keep the pro tees up year round.

I'd tee off with a 5 or 6 iron on every hole
