Golden Corral? Yea or Nay? I love it for what it is.

I know all the obvious critiques of it. But that random bi-annual trip to Golden Corral always hits. It’s not great food, it’s not the cleanest, whatever. Those damn rolls and the ability to eat a cheap steak, a slice of pizza, and some pot roast on the same plate is an American experience. Finish it off with a visit to the dessert bar and it’s a feast that makes you sleep for the rest of your Sunday. Put me down for Yea!!

Well yeah if people treat Golden Corral as just another dining option on rotation, then yeah a buffet will make you fat. But I’ve always viewed Golden Corral as something you forget about for a couple years, go to with a group and have a giant outrageous amount of food, and then forget for another couple years.

Nobody in any friend group over any point in my life suggested a golden corral 
My grandma and mom liked it and we had it growing up some, probably haven't been there in 15 years. It's always Texas Roadhouse now.
I remember the bourbon chicken or teriyaki chicken was pretty good. I honestly don't remember what else they serve? It overall was pretty meh.

The people-watching is S-Tier and the salad bar is actually decent, my mom enjoys going there since the "dollar goes further there."

I won’t go to the land based Golden Corral but go to the floating Golden Corral 2x a year. What’s trashier a weeklong carnival cruise or Sunday brunch at golden corral

12 years ago was my last visit to GC. Fat slobs all over the place. Piles of dirty dishes on the tables. Chicken wings and pasta sauce spilled all over the floor.
Shitty food. Kids putting their hands in the food on the buffet.

There was this disgusting fat slob that used to work in the IT department with our sister company next door like 400 pounds. He would come over once a month and ask me if I wanted to go to lunch and he would suggest all you can eat places every time. Golden Corral, this all you can eat buffalo wings place and a Chinese Buffet. I told him no every single time. He finally got laid off so it stopped. Over a span of 5 years I bet he asked 50 times

Ryan’s was always the better buffet especially with the hot fresh butter rolls on the table waiting for you.
Golden Corral used to do something similar but now you have to get your own.
It is halfway decent place where you can eat pretty much what you want for one price. No loud obnoxious music or over priced menu options that you are expected to leave a 20% tip on.

Eh, I don’t feel like it’s disproportionate to just about any inexpensive place you go to eat. There is an increased amount of trashy people, though. Like you, I’ll hit it up and enjoy it about once per year.
