Yes, you can.

Because whether you like it or not, someone “talking shite to you” does not give you the right to “knock the shite out of them.” That is the law.

And you “knocking the shite” out of him does give him the right to shoot you. That is the law.

So yes, you can expect to end up shot like Trayvon Mullen.

Zimmerman is a total a-hole.

But I think the law is good and was applied correctly in this case.

We need to really think before we start throwing fists because someone could end up dead.

He really is. I know people are going to defend him, but everything known about Zimmerman indicates he is a wanna be cop who took his voluntary neighborhood watch role a little too serious.

He sees a black dude walking down the street, who had a hoodie on, which was likely due to the fact it was raining outside. He follows that person. He calls 911 and is told to stay in his car. Instead he goes out and tries to follow that person.

That person (Martin) becomes suspicious because someone is following him. They get into it, Zimmerman is getting his arse whipped so he shoots Martin.

Why not just wait until the police get there? If he had any suspicion. he did his job by calling 911 and reporting it. There was no reason for him to get out and go look for him, but its easy to assume that Zimmerman wanted to play policeman. He wanted to "help" the police instead of waiting for them and letting them do their job.

Was Martin perfect? Is anyone perfect? No. There was nothing about that situation in which Martin deserved to be killed. Zimmerman shouldn't have even put himself in a situation where he would have had to protect himself.

If it was you and a friend outside talking and you see someone who appears to be following you, how would the 17 year old you respond?

There is nothing to indicate that Zimmerman lost out on anywhere near $100M in lost wages due to this. And you could argue that his actions since his shooting have damaged any "lost wages" he would have received either way.

Neither were participating constructively in society, so I care nill about either one of them.

Being labeled a white supremacist murderer for shooting a dude in self defense was not his own doing. Everything else hes done since is. But in this particular scenario he was fricked over. Both can be true and they are.
