Millennial vs. Gen X comes down to if you watched SpongeBob or Looney tunes. Also if you napped on a rug in kindergarten or a 2 inch padded mat.

Like I said above, millennials are split. I was getting too old for cartoons when SpongeBob came out I think i watched it first couple years and then was watching king of the hill, South Park, family guy, etc at that point for cartoons.

I grew up on looney tunes, Ren and Stimpy, and Rocky’s modern life. When Nickelodeon was awesome and edgy

And Gen X here. 1981.

1981 here as well. I’ve always “identified” as Gen X but now sometimes ‘81 gets lumped in with bitch arse millennials.

Me and my 2 sisters stayed home all summer by ourselves when we were like 12, 10 and 8. No requirement to stay inside either

My dad raised me and my sister bu himself for 5 years from '89-94. From the time I was 8 till 13 and she was 5 till 10.(She's a very old millennial). I would watch her after school from the time I was about 11 while my dad pulled service .

We both turned out fine. And may my dad RIP.

My dad ran trot line string on wooden stakes when I was 12. And told me to dig the footing while he was at work. In the Ozarks. Had a pick, rock bar, and shovel. Made a game out of how many sparks I could make while swinging a pick.

Almost like a lot of them despise personal responsibility.

My parents both worked and left early. I set an alarm, got up on my own, showered, got dressed, made my own breakfast, and walked to school on time.....in the 2nd grade. As long as we had a roof and sufficient electricity to run the lights, A/C, and microwave, I was completely self-sufficient at 9 years old. frick those millennial and Gen-Z pussies voting to confiscate my earnings while living in their parents' basements. Soft motherfrickers.

Yep.

Going back to my earlier post about my dad raising us from when I was 8 till 13, I learned how to do laundry and cut the grass by the time I was 11, and I knew how to cook basic stuff.

No generation knows self-sufficiency like we do. frick younger millennials and Zoomers' and their mooching ways.

1971 here…solid Looney Tunes. Saturday morning was a ritual.

Also, this was the last generation that had to actually read books or physically do something to kill time. No cable tv, home video games were just getting started and more frustrating than anything else ….and no internet.

Depending on where you grew up you were a combination of woodsman, bicycle daredevil, BB gun crack shock pumping that Daisy 880 past 10 with reckless abandon and multi sport athlete.

This plus having to fend for ourselves most of the time bred a special kind of independence.

All of this is true, except it was a Crosman 760 Pumpmaster.

It’s weird to think that the oldest gen x’ers are now in their 60s and oldest millennials now in their 40s.

I remember the whole “latchkey” topic in the news in the 80s. But we’d find stuff to do and glad not to be helicoptered and managed 24/7. Travel ball and youth sports in general were not the massive industry it is now.

We got jobs early at the mall chess king, delivering pizza or flipping burgers. It was awesome getting a paycheck and tips, and having some freedom on what to do with it.

Ok, the boomers aren't the largest voting block. They had help voting in this latest round of politicians that do not care about reducing the deficit. Just more FREE money for everyone!

Nailed it. We are keeping this sinking ship afloat. I was financially independent at 17 years old and left to join the military at 18 years old and I carved my path in life never to look back. Now Boomer and these millennias and younger generations are fricking it up. God bless Merica I hope we right this ship starting with these upcoming elections.
