Gov. Brian Kemp appears poised to ease social restrictions that created disruptions for millions of Georgians amid a still-spreading global pandemic.

A month-old shelter-at-home order is set to expire just before midnight Thursday. But Kemp kept Georgians in the dark Wednesday about what comes next in the state’s fight against the coronavirus.

“We will announce more tomorrow,” Candice Broce, the governor’s spokeswoman, said in an email Wednesday. She declined to comment further.

Kemp has strongly hinted — most recently, during a news conference on Monday — that he would lift the shelter-at-home order for all but elderly and sick Georgians. He has spoken forcefully about the economic harm caused by the quarantine, particularly the damage done to countless small businesses.

People will warn of a new outbreak whether it happens now or in July. Give me opening now instead of waiting until August when tens of thousands of college students start traveling across the country right before the regular flu/cold/pneumonia season.

This is where the media adds their opinion to the story to tell you how to think.

There is no renewed outbreak. If they wanted to add that they should have said despite warnings of a potential renewed outbreak. And even that is pushing it because there's no evidence reopening will cause a new outbreak.

Department of Public Health, studied the cases of 305 coronavirus patients who were hospitalized in metro Atlanta and Albany in March. More than three-fifths were younger than 65, the CDC said, and slightly more than one-fourth had no medical problems “thought to put them at higher risk for severe disease.”

So of those 3/5 ths how many were over 55 you fact not including shitstain

And the one fourth who had no medical problems, how many of them were obese

Yeah.....pretty easy to shoot holes in this article

14,350 days since Georgia “lead the way” as National Champs.

Moral: If we wait for Georgia, we’ll all be dead.

Good for him. JBE will continue to see the mass exodus of Louisiana residents as he finishes his term.

The Rt is <1 for all but 7 states as of early this morning.

Those 7 are Delaware, Wyoming, North Dakota, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa.

Georgia is actually in the 10 best, as 0.79.

AJC wouldn't ever print something positive about a Republican, much less one who is leading the way in common sense. Sorry people but the jig is up and the people know they were duped. Time to open this biatch up and get things back to working.

If only our normally great President would grow a set and get over his germ phobia and realize he's been had by that shrimp Faluci. I never imagined Kemp leading the way since he really isn't that great of a governor, but happy to see it.

It's personal responsibility. If you are sick and go out, you are a piece of shite.

If you dont want to interact with people, then don't. It's really not that difficult.

They didn’t say there was a renewed outbreak, they said there were warnings of a renewed outbreak. The potential aspect of that is implied, to me.
