I think he's saying he wouldn't be surprised to see the official cone shift east.

The shite part about hurricanes for me is that I can't leave due to my job. I'd just drive to my MILs house in Birmingham otherwise and work remotely until the power came back on.

Same. But I can drive my wife and kids out the way and then get back here to open the business. That’s what’s important is getting my house and business prepped and getting my wife and kids out. I’ll be here to deal with whatever but atleast I can know they’re safe and sound.

My kids are almost all legal adults these days, but I doubt my wife will want to leave if I stay. I'll suggest it to her if it looks like we'll get a direct hit, but she probably won't listen and then will complain to me for a week when it's 87 degrees in the house

Those briefings are worth the time for people in the area. I think NOLA has done one already, and Houston maybe. They'll do them regularly leading up to landfall, and they're an easy follow on X.

problem trees were taken out 4 years ago.

I’m concerned about tree damage. With the drought last year and soaking most places have received the last week, it makes for prime uprooting conditions. Just hope the wind is not that strong.

He obviously never made a landfall prediction but did explain that the front should push it east. Also covered the wind shear from the cold front. Said it would be a Cat 1 and that a Cat 3 is unlikely despite the other models. Said it should be a weaker Cat 1.

Good briefing.

NWS briefing just said 50-60 MPH winds based on Cat 1 at landfall.

18z GFS Ensembles are very concentrated until the coast, with a bigger spread dependent on strength. Stronger ensembles, hard right turn towards the NE, weaker due north at landfall.
