Where do you see that?

That's the opposite of what I would have intuitively thought. Do you happen to know why the water cools as you get closer to the coast?

Cooler freshwater runoff from all the rain last week.. those pockets of 27c right at the coast. Plus it rained a TON right off the coast and it's been cloudy. As said below the shallower depth will fluctuate in temperature quicker than the deep ocean. Now it's only a few degrees C, but it's not the bathtub it was earlier in the season anymore.

What are the realistic rain amount forecast?
I’m listening to a co-worker losing his mind and telling everyone they are predicting 12-24 inches in the Gonzales area.
I find that hard to believe

You work with Dyslexic don't you? Tell him not to worry. Cointment is in charge now. Nobody will have to take a pirogue to their front door ever again.

If I remember correctly Zeta was stronger than what Francine is projected to be.

Correct. Zeta was very similar to Hurricane Sally as far as it's minimum pressure goes although the two hurricanes couldn't have been any more different when looking at how fast each was moving.

For comparison sake, Hurricane Sally reached its minimum low pressure of 965 mb when it made landfall in Gulf Shores as a rapidly strengthening strong Cat 2 of 105 mph max sustained winds. Zeta had a similar minimum pressure to Sally but was officially at 110 mph at landfall. Those two hurricanes are the highest end potential for Francine in my humble opinion.

Like which? I can got to tropical tidbits and see models like the HMON and HAFS-B taking it through New Orleans and into Mississippi.

So then who to believe or look at for accurate info on the track. My coworker just said it is moving so much east that MS is going to get hit now. I find that hard to believe but at the same time it does keep tracking east.

Where the hell do some of these people get their weather information?

Y'all are gonna get me in trouble. My wife has walked by multiple times and instead of spaghetti models and school closure arguments, Hannah Gard's fine arse is on my screen.

Wouldn't it be the other way around? Shallow water should heat up easier where are deeper water gets cold the deeper it gets?

Really doesn't matter. the northern gulf has been covered up with storms and cloud cover for a majority time since Labor Day.

Deep water retains summer heat for longer.
Boat mentions lots of cooler fresh water runoff from a few days ago.

Upwelling. The shallower waters will cause the cooler waters below to rise to the surface.

Does anyone have the latest from the NYC fox guy that can interpret the latest 1pm update for us?

That's why it's cooler. I was commenting on Mick's shallow water thought process.
