He is one of my best friends. I have to admit...I have enjoyed all of the misinformation about him on this board as I have over the misinformation about me over the years.
I will say this...he does not live with his mom, but if he did, its one hell of a house. I would live there in a heartbeat.

Is this the same tax that you add to the bill at the sale? How do you not keep that separate (on the books) and hand it to the government? That’s not even your money, you’re just the middle man collecting it for Big Brother.

Did his wife not leave him for infidelity?
Are all of his bars not failing?
Did he not partner with a person who has a history of terrible buisness (Bayard)?

That's just what he owes the city-parish. He owes the state sales tax as well, but doesn't say how much.

Well if we're being precise, any 1099 worker is supposed to withhold the gubment's share from each paycheck and send it to DC quarterly. I was 1099 for 5 years and never once paid quarterlies. Though I never made the jump to "delinquent"
. Accounting and bar ownership should go hand-in-hand but rarely do. I've seen successful ones go under for something so dumb as not withholding payroll taxes.

Probably not. If you have a business like that where you do high volume, I wouldn't think it'd take long to rack up a tax bill like that.
I have very little doubt he'll worm his way out of this, though. He'll just rob Peter to pay Paul. He'll con some sucker into loaning him the 30k to get out of this. Then collecting THAT back becomes that sucker's problem.
