99% of the problems that are being talked about are not because of John Delgado! Although he may not be the best owner in the world he was the least of the problems those places had. The blame should be put on the previous owner/operator who they very recently "bought out".

So the previous owner didn't pay Delgado's sales taxes after he sold the bar to John?
The nerve of that guy.

Probably not. If you have a business like that where you do high volume, I wouldn't think it'd take long to rack up a tax bill like that.
30 K in back taxes means he sold at least $600,000.00 worth of product in EBR parish.
So you think he had that much in sales in just a few months?

It all makes sense Delgado didn't pay his taxes because the previous owner was at fault.

Well, he's been out office since January.
Assuming this is just for the first two quarters (6 months)...over 3 bars downtown?
Sure. I don't see that as inconceivable.

No one forced him to buy it. If there were problems before, he takes responsibility for them once he becomes the owner - you don't get to keep blaming the last guy. What do you think this is, LSU football?

saves a ton of money if your parents are local and able to put you and kids up for a few months.

not if the $30k is inflated by fines/penalties and interest

Pretty sure she's in banland. No way that yap stays shut voluntarily for a month.

Banned from FB which is the only place she had any following. She'll be back in a few days though.

Delgado blames the delinquency—which he estimates totals around $30,000, most of which he says is interest and penalties—on a couple of factors: sluggish summer sales, particularly on Third Street downtown, and market oversaturation.
Huey's was sold as a place for young professionals to relax after work. It isn't that. Bland, no character.
1913 is a night club in downtown Baton Rouge.
Draft House has empty taps and an empty bar. Bland, no character.
Hard pass on all three.
ETA: And from what I've heard, this won't be the first time his liquor license was revoked.

absolutely. favorite place to go when i venture downtown unless i feel like getting old school at B and T's. experienced bar owners. took a long time fighting to get open to while delgado magically opened his while on the council.
i am biased though as a friend is an owner.

Yeah, but unlike most guys in this predicament, he's not living some quiet, humble lifestyle. He is Mr. Flashy Look at Me and how baller my rich lifestyle is

Agree. Plus, the layout is terrible when it gets crowded.

Trashy crowd and always seems empty every night but Saturday.

Agree on everything but the empty bar. It is usually full Thursday - Saturday. It also draws an ok crowd on Sundays sometimes since it is one of only a couple places open downtown. However, it is noticeably falling apart. Clearly evidenced by the holes in the floor by the dartboards that they cover up with carpet slabs.

It used to, but I don't go there anymore. I haven't seen it packed in a couple years.

I didn't think it would last this long. I was walking home from happys one night about a month or two ago and water was pouring out of the place. Someone said some juice monkey ripped a urinal off the wall. Not sure if that is what actually happened.
