You seem to have an "in" with Delgado. Does he have any plans to make his bars not suck? Everything he wants to do, there is already a bar or two doing it better.

nope, I just know a lot of people who have worked for several of those bars over the years.

Yeah, but unlike most guys in this predicament, he's not living some quiet, humble lifestyle. He is Mr. Flashy Look at Me and how baller my rich lifestyle is

How do you know John?
I understand you have major axe to grind with his existence but why? I'm an admitted longtime friend of his and I'm always curious as to the actual source of ire towards him when posters go HAM per se when bashing him.

The dude is a 40 year old man that drives murdered out Tahoe with "DELGADO" on the license plate.

Is an explanation really needed?

He's 43 and drives a Mercedes sedan with no tint. Retard.

Eta. Case and point. Is most of the shade thrown his way based on what you've heard/read/happened 3-5 yrs ago?

It's nice to see ppl who stick up for their friends, but we all know he is a corrupt person who treats people poorly - in both his professional and personal life. When scumbags try to be a public figure, it's only right to expose their wrongdoings so that voters can see who is running to represent them. It's my understanding his political days are not over if he has any say in the matter, but when you go around screwing over your vendors, embezzling money and in general showing people that you have no integrity, everyone has a right to be made aware of those truths.

You didn't answer the question.
What specifically connects you to him? Or are you admittedly just jumping on the pile based on rumors, OT posts, and news clippings?

Fwiw I Rag the shite out of him for calling me a terrorist, for supporting Ryan Heck's latest land deal, and for befriending Gary Chambers.
But he's my friend.

Yea he was. But now he wants everyone to turn to the Show he does with Gary.

I'm not condemning the mob mentality when judging or ridiculing him(I've never met Mitch but I hate him). I just want to know specifically what he did to some of the more passionate haters.

Meet him when he was running for Mayor-President. He came off somewhat arrogant but also aloof at things that concerned me (Northern end of the Parish) but that could be said for EVERY candidate that was running.

Interestingly enough, if he had brought some of his recent vigor to the campaign trail instead of trying to ride the fence to appease a vote he was never getting (black/democrat) he might have had a shot.

A socially liberal Republican is never gonna win shite around here. May as well run Libertarian or Independent.

He is cocky on the surface. Gotta tell him stfu and do a shot with you.

Crooked? Because he can't pay? If he doesn't have the money what should he do?

I am just starting to read this thread, but come on man.. Anyone who bought from him had to pay taxes on that purchase right? That money isn't his in the first place yet he put himself in position to have to owe $30k in sales taxes. If he doesn't have the money, then what was he doing with money that wasn't his in the first place?

Kip has bigger plans at this point.

I know Edwin Edwards did it as governor.. Maxed out his term limit then several cycles later was able to run again, is this allowed for BR mayor?

Since you are a friend of Delgado, do you know for how long he has not been paying sales tax to the City-Parish? To the State?

However, it is noticeably falling apart. Clearly evidenced by the holes in the floor by the dartboards that they cover up with carpet slabs.
Sure is falling apart, I was sitting on their patio about a month ago when my chair leg broke right through the wooden deck and I fell and spilled my beer everywhere. Glass broke and all. Could've cut my arm up real bad.

No dog in the hunt but he seems to be one of the few public voices speaking out against the crazy people fwiw. I mean as far as involved people.

Being the loudest guy in the room doesn't equate to one of the few speaking out. He's doing the same thing his counterpart (he who must not be named) is.

Delgado isn't fooling anyone. He's gearing up for another run, and is trying to gain publicity. Even though this looks bad for him, he'll milk it for all its worth. Bad publicity is still publicity.

The bars suck. He should start there. Huey's was sold as a place for young professionals to relax after work. It isn't that. Bland, no character. 1913 is a night club in downtown Baton Rouge. Draft House has empty taps and an empty bar. Bland, no character. Hard pass on all three.

It amazes me that the downtown bars and businesses don't go after hotel traffic harder. There's something like 2000-3000 residents and 1000 hotel rooms downtown. However, on a Monday night, nearly all of the hotel guests are looking for something to do, and maybe 10% of the residents are. So your weeknight traffic is going to be heavily stashed in the hotels (i.e .business travelers) who are going to walk by a place, make a quick 2-second judgement, and move on.

With that in mind, I don't know why most of the bar stools in Draft House are outside the line of sight of the door, and why Huey's bar is tucked into the back corner. Ever walk by Happy's and it looks like a reasonable place to go hang out even if there are only 5 people in it? Put 5 people in Huey's or Draft House and the place looks empty - no one is going to walk in there. I think they need to complete reverse their floor plans, tuck the bar in the front and the lounge-like areas in the back.

I was walking home from happys one night about a month or two ago and water was pouring out of the place. Someone said some juice monkey ripped a urinal off the wall. Not sure if that is what actually happened.

Wouldn't be surprised. That place has been festering with meatheads from Day One.
