I’ve given it thought just to say I did it but doc told me yesterday boxing is over for me and if he was me he’d stop BJJ bc if my nose gets fricked again it might not be fixable. I agreeed in boxing but not stopping BJJ

Are you fighting as a pro or just sparring? They got headgear baw that covers the nose. You will get every shot, even the glancing ones, but at least no more deviated septums.

It was from years ago when I was playing ball and boxing during the summers. He said I had 4/5 previous fractures. Haven’t boxed in 10 years and just started back up. Doc said no go except bag work but idk if I can just hit bags. I love the BJJ though because I can roll as hard or easy as I’d like and the cardio is incredible

TL;DR. What are some ways you guys still feed that primal need to compete? Any athletic competitions any of you participate in?
Every city or metro area has a rugby club you can join no experience necessary. The bigger cities may have elite teams but always have a B and C side that compete with cities like BR, Jackson, Mobile, etc.
Where you at? I can give you some contact info for local clubs.
Baton Rouge Rugby Club Site

Also want to add I’m not an OT BA. if I booked a fight I’d most definitely get tuned up by some young buck but it’s one of those things I think I’d like to experience just once.
I just love to compete and decided a few years ago I wanted to be in great shape for my kids sake (they’re very active). So I got back lifting, changed my diet, and started doing BJJ with my kids as well.

I caught an 8lb bass and killed an 8pt buck all within a three month period 2017-2018.
Beat that
Beat that

Cycling, Running or Triathlon sports can be competitive in for long time and very popular into 40-50+ age.

What sport(s)? I assume football. What position do you work for football? I just worked my first State Championship as a back judge and it was an amazing experience.
Baseball and Football
The majority of the time I work Back Judge, but I can also work any of the deep or shallow wing positions. If it is a bigger game and they want to put a top tier back judge on it, then I usually will work LJ.

Agree. Where do you train?

My son decided he wanted to do his first competition next month. He’s 9 and I really admire his courage to put himself out there. He’s a really good basketball player, good baseball player, but I really hope he sticks with BJJ

Same here. I'm almost always a Back Judge, but I can really work anywhere. Back Judge just happens to be my favorite.
This year will be my 10th year of officiating. It's one of the best things I've ever done. I truly love officiating.

If you're interested in officiating, you would just need to identify your state association. For instance, here in Florida, you'd just go to FHSAA's page on officiating

CrossFit.
I check the board for my nemesis and aim to beat their lift or time for the workouts that day.
..or check out some of the Games Athletes max lifts and beat them: bench, strict shoulder press, etc.

I race old women at red lights. I’m undefeated because their reaction time is really lacking.

Honestly not sure, owner is Brazilian/American citizen and we have guys come in for seminars from Gracie and 10th planet. The master lives in Brazil and is like 85 years old. I’ve never met him but I’ve heard he’ll come over every few years. Not really sure how all that works.
We just had a guy come over from Brazil and train for worlds. He came in 2nd at 20 yrs old as either a blue or a purple I don’t remember. He was unreal. He would beat our black belt most of the time. The higher up guys tell me he’s got a real chance to be the best at the highest level one day. When you roll with those type guys it’s just unbelievable how good they are. Nothing stresses the “there are levels to this” as much as flying through the air from this 20 yr old and knowing he’s only going 25%
