competitive drive and allows me to eat and drink almost anything but stay somewhat trim

This is me. I usually eat the same things during the week and found my actually eating calorie intake per day is under 900 cals per. Granted I do drink several nights on weekdays but when I calculated what my food intake I was shocked

Booze keeps that 6 pack right around the corner

I'm ~150# at almost 6'

In 2009 I was up to #185 but I was lifting like a MF 5 days a week and it became exhausting. running > lifting for me

I used my chemistry degree to start making meth. It's not even about the money to me, it's about the empire building.

Used to compete through my career, now stay at home with kids. I joined a gym with childcare, kids love the nursery and I take a mixture of yoga, Pilates, total body conditioning and spin classes throughout the week. Spin class is amazing, fun and extremely difficult if you want to compete against yourself. Find an instructor who’s music you like & do it.

I was actually debating on whether or not to post a thread asking about running apps if there were some sort of social/competitive running app somewhere.

Where I can run alone and compete with a group and compare times or something.

I’d like to start running, but I’m not motivated by “just healthy.” I know I should be but it just doesn’t push me. Winning or competing against others is what pushes me.

Does the almighty OT know of any apps or anything like this where this running is social? I’ve found a couple, but you have to “add your own friend” and there’s really no one to add in my area considering where I live.

Now a triathlete. Great for the midlife crisis competitive drive and allows me to eat and drink almost anything but stay somewhat trim

This is me. Im not competitive in the sense that Im going to podium. But cimpetitive against myself or shooting for finishing top 10 in my age group or something depending on the race. Eat whatever I want, never bored because you ar e always training, meet new people, travel for races, and get to compete up into your 60's (there are legit racers in the older age groups).

Other huge benefit of triathlon is that you never have to worry about all that extra money. It'll take care of it for you

I've never ran with a group and have nothing against it.

I've always run alone and just do my own thing, think about a lot of nothing but my goal. I've read that running groups really help those who need that push to start or keep going.

My problem is I want to run more than I should. I fractured a bone in my foot during my training and half marathon way back when.

I am walking now more than I'm running and that seems like horse shite to me but I know I have to condition my body before I really go gung ho

I recommend strengthening your core and your lower back to help with your running.

I’d be running alone, but I’d like to find an app or something that compares times in a group you can join on the app or being competitive with others on the app....

Why not get a FitBit and go that route. I'm sure they have a community to compare runners for you. My company promised us all FitBits by May 1st and they lagged and shite on that so I'm probably about to purchase my own

I could’ve played any sport I wanted in college. My head wasn’t in the right place, but I was extremely talented.

With that said, now I play a lot of golf. It’s something you can compete with your own scores on every time out.

bullshite. Good athletes are a dime a dozen. People think they are better than they are. Especially average hs athletes.

I played college basketball (not power 5) and everyone I played with could have made the league if they had their head on straight. It's just the athletes mindset. Very few are able to be self aware and realistic.

I did MMA training for a week. Signed up for a fight. Got my arse whipped. Remedied my competitive spirit.

Easy. Find the most competitive adult sports leagues you can find. They are out there.
