I started playing tennis last year and love it. Good exercise and it doesn’t take 4 hours like golf and you can play at night. Problem is, starting out, you get your arse kicked.

Part of the reason that, combined with an aging metabolism, men get fat and give up.

Tennis, golf, and pickle ball.

Get into rock climbing. Not dying is a helluva motivator.

You could start ju-jistsu. Everyone likes the guy at the gym who doesn’t know when to quit.

Golf, weights and money bc the only person you compete against is yourself and age won’t prevent success.

No thanks. I'd rather just not rock climb and not have the option of dying as my hobby

Even though you completely fricked the spelling up, jits is an awesome martial art to keep the competitive juices flowing. Done right, you can train into your 70's if you want. My instructor is mid-60's and can pretty well tap me at will and I have him by 30 pounds and 20 years younger and also a Purple that has been training under him for over 10 years. You can roll in your own school, go roll at other schools too, and if that doesn't keep the juices flowing, go compete in tournaments.
You could also box, but getting hit in the face sucks arse, even with headgear on.

What sport(s)? I assume football. What position do you work for football?
I just worked my first State Championship as a back judge and it was an amazing experience.

What are some ways you guys still feed that primal need to compete?
Personally, I enjoy being a relentless douchebag on a southern sports themed message board.

How does it feel to be the king of the mountain?

I did MMA training for a week. Signed up for a fight. Got my arse whipped. Remedied my competitive spirit.
I admire this. What happened in your fight?

I really want to do this but at 38 it’s probably too late

While i still play softball, tennis, and fish/hunt.....the best way I have found is to coach. Problem is that you have to deal with parents that need to live through their kids.
If you have any patience at all (for kids), go coach. I have coached for 28 years. Put a few dozen kids in college on scholarship. I enjoy the process.
