Wut? Like cussing them for the 3 seconds when he was about to collide with them?

BRPD should have shut it down...no doubt. Guy had stolen his dad's car. But they allowed this pursuit from EBR to WBR back to EBR.

As part of the plea deal, the families requested that Cauthron engage with high school students, sharing his experience in hopes of preventing similar tragedies in the future.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but this makes it sound like the courts believe the girl driving shared some fault in the accident. If the hope is to truly prevent similar tragedies; then he should be spending him time sharing his experiences with various police academies.

I'm gonna assume you're making this up because it makes no sense.

But if you're willing to provide the source of your information with names and how you are commented to the source then maybe I could be convinced.

So that warrants a high-speed pursuit?

Adrenaline and piss-poor driving techniques are no substitute for common sense.

No thoughts about the piece of shite that started this whole mess?

Common sense should tell you that if that POS didn’t steal a car, those kids would still be alive today

I'm guessing that he was saying stuff about the guy he was pursuing and not the children, and goes towards the mindset of the cop not being mindful of public safety. Below was from a WBRZ article.

quote:

"When the public and when the triers of facts see the totality of the evidence, particularly his actions moments before the accident and impact, his comments, demeanor... goldfish will stop swimming," Clayton said last month. "That's how damning it is."

Will he go to Angola or is there a special prison for cops/former cops?

David Wade Correctional Center in Homer, protective custody, is where ex police officers do hard labor in LA.

When searching for this, pretty much every news organization talks about the cop with very scant mention of Tyquel Zanders. It will be interesting to see what sentence he gets.

I'm lost with this one. What is this supposed to mean? Was it directed at the girls?

Yes, former LEO usually go to David Wade. Pretty sure that’s where Denny Perkins is

Good lord that’s a harsh sentence this guy faces. I kept thinking he’d get a couple years and suspend all but a small amount. I got to think there’s more in this than I know.

IIRC he was not even on duty, but rather on an off duty detail when he just involved himself in a high speed pursuit w/o permission. He was miles behind the pursuit and had ZERO business engaging. You need permission from a watch commander or supervisor on shift before engaging in high speed pursuits. He wanted to be a cowboy and killed those poor girls. I am a retired LEO and this was a big NO NO from the get go. That's why he was criminally negligent and sentenced to that time.

I mean, he got into a car wreck while in a high speed pursuit. It's not like he tracked these girls down and murdered them.

In New Orleans, if you are the right demographic, you could actually murder people and get less of a sentence, or just have DA Williams drop the charges completely.

Wanting police to do their job right is a libtard? I thought libtards didn’t want police?

Just what he did. At any upstanding police department you would be demoted, if not fired, for engaging in that 'pursuit' in that situation.

ETA; even if nothing happened during said pursuit. Unfortunately those poor girls were needlessly killed.
