Will he go to Angola or is there a special prison for cops/former cops?

Is this the cop that was involved in a pursuit? So he’s gonna get jail time for this?

I mean, he got into a car wreck while in a high speed pursuit. It's not like he tracked these girls down and murdered them.

He was negligent when running the red light but he's not a murderer or killer like the headline would lead you to believe.

Frankly 10 years is probably too much ij my opinion.

how can cops do their jobs if they have to worry about going to jail for killing somebody?!

I wonder if his sentence is comparable with what regular civilian would get for similar charges.

There's different levels of negligence.

If I remember correctly, the chase was miles away from the accident

I guess the issue was that I think he was pretty far behind the actual pursuit and didn’t really have any reason to take off after the pack and be going that speed through a red light.
I also think 10 years seems a little long

Just pointing out that his actions went beyond mere negligence, and rose to criminal negligence. Sure he didn't have intent, but you don't go speeding through a red light at more than 80 miles per hour on a busy highway.

They can do their job properly and not worry about this.

The pursuit led officers through East Baton Rouge Parish into West Baton Rouge Parish, where Cauthron joined on La 1 southbound. Approaching a red light on La 1, Cauthron was speeding for the pursuit and collided with Dunn and Gill’s car. Although he had activated his lights and sirens, it is alleged that he failed to brake when approaching the red light.

Dunn & Gill were turning onto La 1 with a green light when the collision occurred. Tragically, the crash claimed the lives of the Brusly High cheerleaders and best friends, Maggie Dunn and Caroline Gill, at the scene. Liam Dunn, Maggie Dunn’s brother, was in the backseat. He was badly injured but survived the crash.

Following the incident, Cauthron was arrested on January 2, 2023, and charged with two counts of negligent homicide in West Baton Rouge Parish. Upon posting bail, Cauthron submitted his resignation letter to Addis Police.

Cops must must must slow down and check the intersection before going through with their lights and sirens on. Can't just blow through it without looking.

Apparently he was caught on tape saying some VERY bad things about the kids he was about to hit and kill, did NOT want to go to court

Good lord that’s a harsh sentence this guy faces. I kept thinking he’d get a couple years and suspend all but a small amount. I got to think there’s more in this than I know.

Convicted of manslaughter, so not a murderer

I couldn't fit in "high speed pursuit" in the subject line.
