Nope. And I don't have any particular affinity, or hatred for that matter, for cops. I guess I'm just one of those guys who doesn't let his emotions control him like a woman and am able to look at things objectively.

Well I have children. And I'm of course very grateful that I haven't had to experience what that family has.

It’s a sad day to drag this back up. Families have lost loved ones with no repair. Prayers to the ones who have lost. I can not imagine, but can only wish better days ahead… God Bless

Clayton’s comments outside after the plea were that the cop should have steered off the road and possibly sacrificed his own life rather than save it by plowing straight into the girls’ vehicle.

Even with just that statement caught on audio, Clayton would have torn him a new one in front of a jury if he had actually gone to trial.

Tony Clayton may be the best trial lawyer in the state. He controls juries in WBR like a puppet master.

So he’s gonna get jail time for this?

You god damn right he is. He had no business being in on the chase and he is heard from the recording inside of his vehicle of saying "frick this is going to hurt". He didn't even attempt to brake.

Based on those facts I'm not sure I'd give him any prison time at all. Maybe a 2-4 years. Obviously he should never be allowed to drive or be a cop again.

You should never serve on a jury in any capacity with a statement like this

The crash happened in Brusly, so if he was Addis PD he would be out of his jurisdiction.

quote:

He was told by dispatchers to back off several times

I’ve not read or heard this anywhere.

quote:

He was going over 100 MPH through the intersection when the crash occurred.

He was moving very fast. But he wasn’t going over 100 mph.

This has nothing to do with my emotions. And claiming you are looking at this objectively when you are willing to give him no jail time yet dance all around a straight answer. You need to move to N.Y. or anywhere in Calif. where your peers are waiting for you with open arms. And it wasn't "a wreck" or "an accident": he recklessly & negligently killed 2 young kids after ignoring commands from his LEO superiors. Responsible for the deaths of 2 young kids & you're for letting him walk.

I mean I clearly said I thought he was guilty of negligent homicide or vehicular homicide or whatever we call it here in Louisiana. The minimum sentence for that is 5 years and thats what i wouldve given him so not really sure how I'm "letting him walk."

That’s for when you look down after getting a text and hit someone while doing the speed limit.

This has a little more culpability and the charges and sentence reflect that.

Okay so where am I wrong here? I would've found him guilty of negligent homicide and given him the same sentence he got because that's what the law says. I assume he git 5 years per count right?

Again, he got 2 counts of manslaughter (not negligent homicide/vehicular homicide/etc.

Will he go to Angola or is there a special prison for cops/former cops?

Isn’t there a Wade Correctional Facility in north Louisiana where LEOs get sent.
I think I heard on the news that this POS is still out and doesn’t have to report until May.
What the heck…

When he was first charged it was reported in the news that the dispatchers and other officers radioed to him to stand down. He didn’t.

He was moving very fast. But he wasn’t going over 100 mph.

According to the story in the advocate he was traveling around 100 MPH.

From the advocate today.
quote:

David Lee Cauthron, 43, was traveling at speeds around 100 mph moments before he barreled through a red light and slammed into a vehicle near the Brusly Police Department on Dec. 31, 2022.

Here is a report from January 8th, 2023.

quote:

During the chase through multiple parishes, Louisiana's version of counties, the 24-year-old ran red lights and reached speeds of 110 mph, according to police documents.

Well I think it probably is but the law says otherwise. Not much I can do about that.

It was a situation where the police probably shouldn't have gotten into a high speed chase in the first place. They were chasing someone who stole his daddy's car.

BRPD said they called off the chase at the border of EBR and WBR. I've heard that while they said they called it off at the border, on the MRB that they actually went into the city limits of Brusly before turning around, but I don't know how accurate that is.

The chase was going south on HWY 1, but this dumbass takes off like a bat out of hail going north on HW 1. His actions made 0 sense. Whatever happened before the city limits of Addis was not his concern. The only thing he could have done once he was on LA 1 was join the chase.. Unless he planned on crossing over to HWY 1 south and block the HWY, which the car being chased could have easily avoided.

He was your typical small town policeman. Someone willing to do the job despite how little it pays which is usually someone who is willing to work for little because it gives them some type of authority.
