When you try to equate a child rapist and kidnapper to an overzealous jackals who drove through a red light and got in a wreck it kinda lessens how evil child rape is in my opinion.

Even with just that statement caught on audio, Clayton would have torn him a new one in front of a jury if he had actually gone to trial.
Clayton is a brilliant prosecutor. No doubt.

Again with the "too harsh". What number of years do you feel is appropriate for someone responsible for the death of these 2 girls?

Hitting the intersection at 86 mph without even touching the brakes is insanity. I usually support cops in most situations but what he did is indefensible, imo.

Maybe 10 years, maybe no time at all. I'd need to hear all the facts in a the trial. But at first glance 10 years is too much IMO. And yes I know I'd feel different if it were my daughter's. But they aren't my daughters and there's a reason family members aren't allowed on the jury.

A child rapist would more than likely get a life sentence in LA. LA had a death penalty enhancement for child rape less than 14 for some time until it got struck down and cruel and unusual. No one on this board is trying to equate the two.

Some facts for you.
He was out of his jurisdiction when the crash happened.
He was told by dispatchers to back off several times.
He was going over 100 MPH through the intersection when the crash occurred.

Based on those facts I'm not sure I'd give him any prison time at all. Maybe a 2-4 years. Obviously he should never be allowed to drive or be a cop again.

I don’t think 10 is enough

I disagree. I think most people are judging him more harshly because he's a cop.
Remove the badge and all this is is an accident caused by a reckless and negligent driver.
Would you give 10 years to someone who killed 2 people because he ran a red light on his way to the airport to make a flight?
Posted on 3/18/24 at 4:14 pm to GeauxxxTigers23
Ran a red light at 100 mph? Yes

It’s called vehicular homicide. In LA the law states you get a minimum of 5 years in prison and no more than 30. The guy in this case got the minimum
allowed by law.
And yes you kill 2 people running a red light because you were going to miss a flight then grab an orange jump suit.

Is that type of sentence normal for vehicular homicide in Louisiana?
What do people normally get for similar wrecks?

GeauxxxTigers23, you have to be a cop right?

Nope. And I don't have any particular affinity, or hatred for that matter, for cops. I guess I'm just one of those guys who doesn't let his emotions control him like a woman and am able to look at things objectively.
