Family and not living in Houston with millions of others.

Easy availability to all the outdoor activities I like.

I’ve had a hankering for boudin for the last few months. Wasn’t something I ate all that often before, but it seems the fact that I can’t get my hands on it makes me want it that much more. Looked into having some shipped, but everywhere wants $80 just for shipping.

Boiled peanuts aren’t as common up here in Northern Colorado either. I think I’ve got a hook-up for live crawfish for next season at least. Oh, and these dorks have no idea what a tailgate party is supposed to look like. I saw a grand total of one group on CSU’s campus when we walked through yesterday at noon.

I miss the friendliness of Louisiana. Austin is nice but people here look at you funny when you try to strike up a conversation with them.

Quality sausage and boudin. Other than that, glad I made the move

Good to know this is typical answer. We are moving to Charlotte next summer after my kid finishes the school year.

Being able to easily go to Mardis Gras without taking off work and spending $$$ on travel plans.

That, food, and my family and friends that still live there

Why Charlotte? Is that where you’re retiring?

My wife has a job opportunity that shits on anything available in south Louisiana. We are in our 40s. We could stay here and live a nice life, but feel like more is out there for us and ultimately our kid elsewhere.

I do make killer hush-puppies, beignet’s, bread pudding, fried okra, gumbo, jambalaya, red beans & rice, etc. Those are easy.

What I miss is GOOD smoked sausage, and a GOOD boiled Louisiana seafood boil: e.g. large gulf shrimp that tastes like the ocean, big sweet and tender blue crabs, stone-crab claws, corn halves, red potatoes, and sweet onions.

I miss that zippy burn on my lips that pairs well with a super-cold beer.

I can purchase the above non-Louisiana sourced generic ingredients up here in MA., but it ain’t at all the same thing.

I'm with you on this. It aint that I want boudin all that often, but it's a bitch when you want it and can't get it.

Not eating 20+ lbs of crawfish over a season still gets me.

I miss my dad who has passed away, and several aunts who have passed in the last two years. Otherwise, I miss nothing about the area I grew up in (E. Feliciana parish). There is very little there to keep someone "home".

There was a place over in Clinton called the Pine Haven Lounge, "The Pines" that was a lot of fun if you could avoid the occasional fights. I saw Percy Sledge and Cookie and the Cupcakes there back in the 70's. It burned down some years back.

Not far enough. I have a franchise idea I’m working on.

And I severely miss being 20 minutes from the Atchafalaya Basin.
