Allow me to give you some encouragement: I received those same numbers from my oncologist as you did when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer.

That was in 2011.

I'm still here and cancer free as far as the blood marker tests and PET/CT scans show.

My prayers go out to you and your daughter for a full recovery and a long, happy life together.

Praying for your daughter, you and y'alls friends and family.

Worked in cancer ministry for a while. No cancer has a 100% mortality rate. You and her have fights ahead but you can win! Here's to you and yours. Keep your head up!

I remember your post about your daughter. Really sorry to hear about y’all. Made me think about my own experience with kidney cancer a couple years ago at 44 and my dad being diagnosed with the same cancer a year later at 86. He’s decided to live with it. Cancer is certainly hereditary. But it can be beat. Hoping y’all do the same. Best of luck to y’all.

Praying for you. Fight like hell

In hindsight, were there any warning signs you might have missed or just ignored?

You’re not melodramatic, and this isn’t cringey. It’s overwhelming, for sure, but there are so many advances in treatment. Those survival stats really don’t take that into consideration. Learn what you can about the disease and try to identify resources you may need. 5 years is a long time in terms of cancer trials and new treatments. Praying for y’all.

I do in fact remember. I searched last night for an update.

Very sorry to hear about your situation. I know people who’ve had very successful whipple procedures. I pray that yours is as well.

I’m so sorry to hear this. Prayers for all.

Its unfortunate you aren't ultra rich or famous and can get the advanced therapies.

Seriously, best of luck. I hope you're here shooting the shite years from now. It's hard, but a vibrant, healthy attitude goes a long way towards helping the soul stay in the fight.

That is tough to hear, I am rooting for both of you.

One note about a Whipple: while it is no longer considered to be among the most complex surgeries, it is still complex. I would seek out a surgeon and hospital that does a significant number a year, say 20. While that is not a huge bar to cross in a decent-sized city, as you get to smaller cities, the availability of those surgeons goes way down. It is not an assembly line procedure like a CAB or appendectomy.

You have a fighting chance, so hang in there. I know someone who had surgery (not Whipple; they weren't a candidate), chemo, and radiation to treat pancreatic. It was hell for several months, but they are 10 years out now and doing great.

Man wow. ; I really hate to hear all that. I will be pulling for you.

I too had a gall bladder removed back in May of 2020. It was a emergency procedure and I had those insane pains in my ribcage. After removal, they sent me home and I was also expecting a fast recovery.

Two days later I started hurting again and long story short, I ended up with a severe case of pancreatitis. I ended up in the hospital for 6 days while I recovered. Well 5 years later I still have issues with the gall bladder removal. I could eat anything before and now I still have to watch what I eat. Amazing how some have zero issues with it and some have major issues.

Hope the procedure takes care of you and you didnt mention your daughters issue but I will be pulling for both of you. You had a lot thrown at you at once man. Really a bad deal but you can do this
