Field sobriety tests aren't designed for you to pass.

I bet you couldn't find 10 completely sober people that would pass these maneuvers.

I don't get how they can even hold up to scrutiny in court.

I was in a court room when a LA State Trooper was asked about the "tilt your head back and touch your nose" test. While sitting in the witness chair, he tilted his head back and VERY CLEARLY missed his nose.
The judge looked over at the Trooper and said "you just missed your nose, are you drunk?" The Trooper said "no." The ADA asked for a Recess and they quickly came back and Dismissed.
LoL.

Depending on the study, a perfectly conducted (basically never happens) SFST occurring in ideal lab settings (never happens) in which all clues are observed have a false positive rate between 24%-28%.
No one should ever submit to a SFST. No one. Ever. I mean that literally.

And drug dogs are trained to “alert” even if drugs aren’t present

Ive had 2 back surgeries and also 2 knee surgeries on the same knee. I don't think I have the physical coordination to pass one sober anymore.

Same with polygraphs. Complete junk science that is used as an intimidation tactic.

That so called FST was totally absurd. He gave he so many instructions, so fast, there is no way 99% of sober people could pass that test. The guy did better than I would have done and I'm not drinking.

A whole lot of issues that a defense attorney could exploit.
Also, officer seemed to be really nervous with his body cam swaying back in forth between the two women, right a chest height, starting around the 13 minute mark.

I love how the instructions are so detailed and longwinded that the officer has to keep reading them off the paper.
Also the cop keeps bitching at him to stay in the position until he's told to do the task, but the dude is asking for clarification on if he's doing it right.
Definitely seems like a trick in that I'm sober sitting at my desk and some of the instructions are difficult to follow/remember. And he's going so fast on purpose.

People don't understand that the police are going to book you for DUI anyway.
You can ace the field test.
You can pass the breathalyzer.
They will still book you and charge you with DUI.
It's a racket arranged between law enforcement and MADD.

Ron White - Drunk Driving
We just watched this special last night. Ron White said it best "that's not a sobriety test, it's a goddamn agility test."
"You know what a fair drunk driving test? Drunk driving. Get in the car. Let's do a couple of blocks."

I always fail mine in spectacular, stumbling fashion.
