I voted for this.

Hit the chicken processing plants and also arrest management and owners.

I wouldn’t say that’s retarded…it’s more along the lines of being more pragmatic than dramatic.
I’ll leave you with this- the issue is more complicated than the surface allows and your understanding of it, respectfully.

Maybe, but I doubt it.
Go look at any corn field, etc across the country and let me know the nationality makeup.

I had my house painted, roof replaced and have maids come every other week. Ain’t of them whitey. Who is replacing them if they leave? No one

I understand it fine. You’re creating a big time labor vacuum if you just pull illegals immigrants off the job site.
But corporate profits and the wealth held in this country are both at all time highs. Distributing money to the middle class via wages has to happen in this country

Hell, run an ICE raid through a Tyson or Cargill chicken plant and get back to me on this one.

So if you see a migrant worker in a field you just assume they’re illegal? Come on dude you’re wrong again. There is some illegals but in my area majority are all legal migrants

Are there really people on TD that espouse the "who will mow our lawns?" argument?
Neighbor's son started a lawn service during Covid while in high school. The boy is making around $150k a year and hired other high schools graduates to work for him.

Should have been done decades ago.
It was done in the 1980's for sure. Border Patrol office in Lake Chuck responded to a tip about illegals coming to finish the concrete for a pour in Beaumont for a new apartment complex. Zip tie cuff city that morning with concrete trucks having no place to pour. Border Patrol agent Kaufman (or was it Kothman) was ecstatic that the contractor lost his arse worse than any pissant fines would do.

Yes, yes. This is the way. Put some in jail for human trafficking too.
The jobs for illegals will dry up and they will stop coming.

I have seen the file. Nobody is hiring illegals,

Do you all really want to pay what it costs for American labor? Not to mention bad quality and laziness of Americans?

let’s add some math to this debate as I am beginning to sense entirely too much sympathy in this thread for illegal immigrants.
fairus.org: The Financial Burden of Illegal Immigration
since I doubt most of you will take the time to open the link, I’ll borrow the figures fairus.org uses to summarize:
Total Government Expenditures on Illegal Aliens:
Total Federal Expenditures: $66,449,136,000
+ Total State Expenditures: $115,608,730,000
= $182,057,865,000
Total Tax Contributions from Illegal Aliens:
Total Federal Taxes Paid: $16,219,495,000
+ Total State Taxes Paid: $15,172,140,000
= $31,391,635,000
So, Total Tax Burden of Illegal Aliens:
$182,057,865, 000 total expenditures on illegal aliens
- $31,391,635,000 total tax contributions from illegal aliens
= $150,666,230,000
$150 billion dollars in 2023.
Now, explain to me how illegal immigrants are a net positive for our economy. What do they contribute that offsets $150 billion?
And that’s 2023. We let in another 3-5 million illegal aliens in 2024. This problem will only continue to snowball. And that’s just the economics.
Not to mention the impact on our medical industry, impact on housing availability, impact on public schools, etc. Not to mention the vast vast majority of these people despise us, our culture, and our history. They have no intention to integrate into our society. They only want to take and stick their hands out for tax payer funded assistance.
Seriously, consider what you are saddling the next generations of Americans with; by just throwing your hands up, and saying, “our blueberry prices and sheetrock installation are gonna skyrocket”. It’s a lazy and ignorant argument proving you either have an ulterior motive to support illegal immigration or you’re a brainwashed sheep.

I refuse to hire illegal aliens to do my yard work. My wife and children do it.

A lot of plaintiff attys who do a lot of workers compensation are pissed because they are losing a major source of clients. Most of the big firms have Spanish speaking associates who they send out to the Spanish enclaves to solicit business.

It isn’t that simple. Most construction and development is financed such that the only way to absorb higher cost is through increased rent, asset prices, or decreased cost of capital.
New construction could effectively just stop for awhile in certain areas of the country until supply of space becomes scarce enough to justify higher rent and values. That’s already happening in many areas independent of the new labor issues.
I will say that I don’t anticipate this to be a huge issue near or long term, but the gap won’t be filled by Americans. It will be filled by different legal immigrants.
