Basalt, CO. Two Gold Medal rivers run through it and 15 minutes from Aspen.

Zermatt, Switzerland.
I talked about it last week on the travel board. The most spectacular scenery I have ever seen was from the Klien Matterhorn, the mountain next to and overlooking the Matterhorn. We took the ski lift to the top. It is the highest point in Europe that is accessible by lifts. On the next level down there is a terrace where from one side you are looking at the Matterhorn; from the other side you are looking at the town of Zermatt way down below; and all around you are looking down at snow covered mountains and valleys. Incredible scenery.
I also mentioned Interlaken as the most beautiful mountain town I have been to whose mountain I did not see. The day we were there it was so cloudy and foggy we could barely see the Jungfrau.

I'm partial to Park City, UT for family reasons but that stretch of I-70 in Colorado from Vail up the Ike Gauntlet to Loveland is one of my favorite drives in the country.
I'm excited to make the move to Park City soon.
Honorable mention to Sun Valley, ID. It reminds me of what Park City was before the development boom.

Say what? Trump signs were flying in the back of pick up trucks all over town for months here, prior to the election.
This is a Conservative town. To claim that it is further to the Left than Portland, Eugene, or Salem is insane. It's not even a contest.

Salida, Colorado.
We went in July.
Article about Mountain Towns.
This quote below about Salida is absolutely true. EVERYONE we encountered ended the conversation with
"You have a great day, okay?"
They go out of their way to make you NOT feel like an outsider.

Yes. It's been an eye opening experience, to say the least.
I do event work for some of the other private clubs as well.

I love how the leadership just ignored the liquor license rules when they opened the village core. And when they got busted, Sam Byrne just invites Bullock up to the club for a chat.
And presto, small fine, and everything is good again.

They're on the up and up about it, now. It's a bitch for me to get inventory from another outlet.
I'm fortunate enough to work the "dive" bar in the village. Getting to see celebs and the absurdly wealthy get hammered off my cocktails is pretty fun.

Mountain Home, AR. It’s like traveling back in time to Mayberry.
