I think that's classified speed. There's no telling how fast it really is. Me and the fam went on a short vacation to the USAF museum in Dayton OH this summer. They have a SR71 and a YF12. Badass planes. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in aircraft to visit that museum.

SR71 is a very interesting plane...
The speeds it traveled presented unique problems associated with the increased heat from friction...
You can find articles that tell how the plane would leak fuel on the runway prior to take off because they had to build the plane taking into account heat expansion. So seams and joints on the plane did not "seal" properly until after take off and the heat would seal up the fuel leaks.
I remember reading somewhere that the planes length would increase by up to 2 feet (if I recall correctly) due to heat expansion....

I've seen one about 500m from my position when it almost crashed into my A/C and an A-10 on a low pass "show of force" in RC-E.

The F-15 and the strike eagle are not the same thing. When you say F-15 you are typically referring the the more badass version, which is the C model.

I saw the 2 planes fly over my office yesterday around 3:30. They were loud, and awesome. Happened so fast but I thought they were F-15's. I know very little about planes, but did anybody confirm what they were?
ETA: Looking at Google pics, I think they might have been F-18s, but not positive.

Brian Shul says (unconfirmed) he exceeded Mach 3.5 in evading a missile over Libya in 1986.
I think the 86k feet is a little high. They've admitted to a 1976 flight of 85,069 feet (Robert Helt, Pilot and Larry Elliot, RSO).
(ETA: Brian Shul is the author of the legendary SR-71 "ground speed check" story.)
