F-15 and F-22 are my top 2. I live 10 miles from Tyndall Air Force base and get to see all kinds of fighters flying around daily. F-22 Raptor is the most badass.

Tough call, but I'll probably say F-14 because I loved topgun as a kid.
SR71 and both the stealth bomber and fighter are up there on my list as well. The F22 is a badass airplane no doubt, but I wouldn't say it's on my favourite list just due to it being mainly driven by nostalgia.

I'll go with the workhorse of the military, the C-17 globemaster. Carries heavy freight around like a FedEx/UPS plane, flies like a fighter jet that can do crazy shite and land and takeoff from virtually anywhere like some random strip of dirt.
The C-130 and C-5 Galaxy are important but damn the C-17 is a lifesaver as far as logistics in the military goes.

I wonder if the developers and the Air Force was smoking a blunt one day and went like,"hey guys, let's do some crazy shite like take a cargo plane, strip everything out and put a bunch of guns on it and start shooting shite up on the ground with it."

It started as the AC-47 Spooky, with 7.62mm machine guns for close air support. The AC-130 is a huge step up from that.

It's featured in fighter jet video games frequently and I always use it for ground missions that require close air support. I'm just amazed at the damage it can do on my TV screen. It can really frick some shite up. Can't imagine what it looks like in action in real life.

There are vids showing the AC-130 in action Absolutely amazed at the relative accuracy of that thing and the damage it can do.

Damn thing STILL looks like it is from the future at 50+ years old.

My Dad was in the Air Force. In Viet Nam he was at Phan Rang. He worked on the "Spookies". He said the worst thing was all the Agent Orange that was on the planes when they came back. Something to think about.

Kelly Johnson was a rock star in his field.

How fast would the SR71 really go and what was the ceiling? Shouldn't be classified anymore since there are none flying.
And I don't expect or want an answer but I am willing to bet you don't retire a platform like that without something ready to go to take its place.
